Some rumors out of Japan actually claim
The 300 might be discontinued in its home market in favor of the 250.
Not sure how true this is but I guess sales will determine this.
I would imagine the more Conservative LC300 design would attract some folk maybe?
Lets see.

Very interesting. That would certainly be a shock to me given the heritage but everything is a cost analysis and if it’s not selling there then no point in keeping it around.

I'm curious to see how they spec out the Middle Eastern version of this.

If they go all out it'll be coming close if not crossing LC300 pricing and that would be a death sentence for the 250.

My guess is we will probably initially get batches of fully loaded versions then settle in to mid spec options that are priced noticeably less than 300s as the current situation is with the 150.
The fully loaded 150 did overlap with the 200 pricing wise so it wouldn't be a new development if that happens again.

US version will probably be the coolest best specced one along with Japan.

We will get the extended fuel tank though and i doubt the US will.

I feel a little let down by the face
They seem to have done a better job with the rear which is a surprise from Toyota. Usually its the other way round.

Putting the flagship 62 next to the Prado 250 really didnt do it any favors.

My biggest hope for the Land Cruiser is that it comes in lighter than the GX550 by ~500 pounds. If paired with the same drivetrain as the 550, that should mean better MPG and easier to maneuver off-road. Don't get me wrong, I love cooled seats and all the niceties my (base-trim) 460 has, but a LC with cloth seats, the good off-road hardware, and not much else would be rad.

+1

A face not even a Mother could love. It truly is the contrast of an Icon and a Bolt-on in this ill fated picture.

I hate to be a Grouch but I hope these pictures and announcement are for a new Toyota truck destined for the market in the Republic of Fredonia. Whoever designed this thing needs to do eleven years in Twelfthworth!

Let’s wait and see what the real Landcruiser announcement tells us in a few days now.

I will save the final judgment until this thing is fully revealed, maybe when we see the face with the rest of it, we might like it.

Just having that 62 that looks so good and imposing really took all the presence from that 250.

Honestly though, anything is an improvement over the current Prado.

Just imagine if this ends up being
Triple locked - e kdss and a v6 (for the US market)
Honestly that will be a serious vehicle.

Even if angles end up being poor in stock form but you can bet the aftermarket is already on it.

I couldn't agree more (except I actually don't really mind the current Prado). This J250 is shaping up to be a serious piece of kit.

The subsequent question will be about how Toyota lets you add options onto the base vehicle. The new Tundra and Sequoia have standalone TRD Off-Road packages that can be added to (I think) every trim; hopefully the same can be done for the LC. This would allow for what in my opinion would be the *ideal* LC: Cloth (or something akin to it) seats, triple-locked, E-KDSS, and the TTV6. Minimal electronics (relatively speaking, of course) and maximum capability. Like you said, that would be a hell of a rig.

Yes, my point exactly, we need to see the substance of the new LC and not just the look. Maybe the substance will balance things out. Let’s hope so, though the look of a car is something you have to live with every day, just like the substance.

The Marketing exec who let that woeful pictorial juxtaposition be published should take a very long as in permanent leave.

Especially since much of the real speculation centered around whether there would be a real off road contender Land Cruiser option coming and not just a people mover. Looks like a real LC could be coming. Just a few days now and we will know. Very exciting turn of events.

is the v6 for the US confirmed though? ROA not getting it.

Kinda - considering you'd always have the option via the GX550. I'm am definitely in the believe that the LC will have V6 options whereas the 4R will be limited to the same 4 banger engines that the new Tacoma was announced with.

I don't think this was ever a real concern considering the release of the Grand Highlander and (to a lesser extent) Sequoia. If it was just going to be another people mover we wouldn't be getting it at all.

The market has moved on from that way of thinking a long time ago. Hell, even a $30k Hyundai has all the electronic bells and whistles. You will have it all here as well.

What are people's experience working with Toyota dealers to get on their radar for ordering new releases like this? Do people put down deposits and get on a formal list? Or is it more informal "call me when they're available to be ordered"? I typically spend as little time in dealerships as possible so I am not familiar with the process.
