While in Tahoe I was lucky enough to get a free upgrade to a Infinity QX 80. Love the V8 but she is a wide ride.

Ha-ha!!! Your ski pictures are almost exactly like ours year after year!! Did you ski both the Nevada and California sides? Did you do Orion, Galaxy or the Dippers? and We'll be heading up there later this week for a couple of weeks. We get annual passes to Heavenly every year and with Military, it's only about $180 for each, my wife and I. It is our favorite drive up the HWY 395!

Heavenly was a mess the day we were there. The Gondola was closed so only CA was open and PACKED!! Ended up yoyoing Gunbarrel a bunch as no one was in line for it! Then Sunday at Kirkwood similar lift line issues with the exception of the Wall and it was death ice for about 700'. The snow at Kirkwood was fantastic it was the 25-35 minute lift life that sucked.

Epic Pass for Vets/Military is a smoking deal! I regularly ski every Friday locally at Stevens Pass (Epic Pass resort) and often head up to Whistler about once a month for turns (when the border is open).

It’s for the shipping palette! Those things are brittle as hell.

There is a special added item for me that is a bit fragileee. Stand by for details.

The long wait is over!! The LFD Offroad rear bumper arrived Friday. I spent the weekend unpacking it and weighing the parts. Its no lightweight at 220 lbs for all parts and attaching hardware.

The design is stout. The receiver protrudes through two planes and is of a boxed design. The recovery points are similarly attached in a pass through design and welded on both sides.

The bumper itself weighs in a 120 lbs, the swing outs, spare tire holder and mounting hardware make up the rest of the mass.

I spent Sunday adapting my CBI Jerry can holders to fit the left swing out. I’m going to fit it to my GX, once satisfied with the fit and plastic trim I’ll send it out for powder coating. I‘ve never been a fan of powder coating from the manufacture as it’s usually low cost bidder and I want it to match the semigloss on my sliders.

A few more detailed pics. The left swing out weighs in at 33 lbs. Unless its a real PITA I will not have it mounted 75% of the time. No point in carrying the extra weight.

Since you get to coat it, do you have a preference on color?
Maybe a matching or contrasting color like a gun metal gray or something that matches your rims?
Also, what about coating materials? Powder coat, rattle can, bed liner, Plasti-Dip?

I agree with this. ^^

Original goal prior to COVID was to have everything powder coated to match the wheels, but as parts slowly trickled in it was apparent that I would be waiting a long time to color match items. I want to be on the trail and camping.

No the Storm Trooper look is not my favorite.

Made my way down to New Mexico last weekend for CE, continuing education. We have been training Safe Xtract for a couple years but as new uses of the X lock have evolved I needed to upgrade my understanding and education. We worked on numerous rigs and training but the belaying of a vehicle and flat towing a dead vehicle in roughy terrain were the highlights!

Those X blocks are really interesting. In the reserves we do SAR, both urban and wilderness and have had to do some repelling.

And back to our regularly scheduled program!!

Started the LFD Offroad rear bumper installation today. Removed the factory receiver hitch, bumper cover and aft mount attached to the frame. The parts removed that are not being reused come in at about 70 lbs. The receiver hitch removes pretty straightforward, 10 bolts and a floor jack and it’s off. I removed the parking sensors with a small blade screw driver as they are held on with double back tape. The lower tail/back up lights have two screw in opposing corners and the upper one is a bit of a challenge to access. With those removed I popped up the black bumper trim and popped the bumper cover off and placed it in the living room to avoid damage.

With all the factory items removed I located the LFD rear bumper and threaded all 10 mounting bolts. Once they were all started by hand I slowly tighten them a bit at a time fairly evenly as not to squee alignment. I used my transmission jack with a 2x6 lagged to it and then the bumper to the 2x6 for ease of one person installation.

Lookin good!

Where about in WA are you located? Forgot if I asked that before. We are lookin to move north of Coeur d’Alene ID.

Once all even and level I applied masking tape to the tail lights and body to draw marks and take measurements for the cut line of the factory bumper cover. LFD had a spare chunk of right side bumper cover sitting around and shipped it with my bumper. I will cut that first to verify my measurements and attempt to make a template for cutting the factory cover.
