That's a good question and to be totally honest I don't know. But I would assume that the only differences are the shape and location of the reverse light/red marker light. My only concern would be if they use different plugs for those lights because the 2010-13 does have a different plug for the tail lights in comparison to the 2014+. If it is in fact a direct swap I don't see why I wouldn't be willing to swap for yours so long as the condition of our paint/plastic is similar. I'll look into this further and we can discuss off-line.

*Edit- As you can see in this pic it's installed on a 2014+ and it appears to have been cut without interfering with the rear lights, so maybe Stellar Built and/or the customer simply opted to notch the plastics and remove the lens? I'd consider only installing the spare tire carrier side if I went this route and that would further eliminate the need to run the camera and plate relocation as well. But this could all very well be a moot point if there isn't an option for a built in receiver. I've reached out to Kyle at Treaty Oak to see if he can clarify further as I see the four mounting holes in some pics of the bumper and on others I don't.

Kyle is the man and I’m sure will give a great answer. Here is what Dobinsons website says:
  • 2010-2013 requires slight notch above bumper to clear swing outs.
  • 2014 and up requires heavy modification to the OEM bumper to clear swing outs.
Not sure what “heavy modification” entails but I’m sure Kyle can speak to that.

I’m digging that bumper, but like other have said it does cover the passenger rear tail light.

The Dobinsons rear bumper is a great value for the money but I hate how the spare sits outboard the side of the vehicle covering part of the tail light. It looks too off-centered IMHO but I have not seen one in person to know whether or not I could accept it.

Here is one Stellar Built did this past week.

Okay, I'm going a little Pollyanna here, but the good side of it being off set is that you get a lot more view from your rear window and you may not have to relocate your backup camera.
I have very little visibility out the rear of mine and had to relocate my camera.

That’s a great point. If I was to order a bumper today it would be the dobinsons bumper for sure.

Agreed and you clearly don't need to relocate the camera or plate if you only use the spare side swing out. To counter that though, you completely cover your passenger side brake/tail light, you would have the spare tire protruding from the side of the vehicle and it adds even more weight to the corner/side that already has lean issues. You can see evidence of that in the pic I posted, there's an obvious lean to the passenger side.

...and it adds even more weight to the corner/side that already has lean issues.
Heck, that weight on the passenger side just off-set's the weight of my big fat 'ol arse sitting on the drivers side!!

Yea and they are cheaper than some other vendors as well. Sadly it's currently out of stock at the moment. I'll continue to wait and see what else hits the market in the coming months but this is on the list of possibilities.

Random thought... what about a 255/80r17? It’s a true 33” and weighs 8-10 lbs less than a 285/70r17. I love the tall skinny look on the older land cruisers but not sure how it would look on the GX.

Found some pics of a guy running that tire. his instagram is @ronin_metal and he makes some seriously cool stuff (apparently out of his garage). He is running LT255/80/r17s Falken AT3W. That tire is weighing in at 52.5 lbs (2.5 lbs less than a toyo at3 in a LT285/70/17), but you can get an idea of what it looks like on his instagram account. Keep in mind he has a chopped rear bumper, no running boards (or sliders) in lots of pictures and "viper cut" his front bumper recently. Looks better than I thought it would though.

You know you bought the right vehicle when you look back at it every 5 minutes 😂

It's funny, I tend to agree with that sentiment and I have had this disease many times with past vehicles yet I don't find myself doing it with the GX. That said, I think I like the GX overall a lot more than most of the other vehicles I have had in the recent past, it's simply more practical and there's something comforting about that. At the same time that comfortable feeling makes for a boring existence, for me personally anyway. It's hard to explain but more or less the GX is boringly reliable and average and while that's not exciting it's rewarding and less distracting. I'll take that haha.

got it. Thanks! what rear bumper you got coming? Liking the price on the dobinsons one especially with Black Friday sales

The Dobinsons is a bit narrow looking for the 2014 and newer, mind you I haven't seen it in person on a 14 and newer just on the net.
