Okay.

Let me change the hypothetical a bit.

Would you rather have the 16 and customize slowly? Or the 15 and dump $10-12k immediately?

That looks boss as does your home. Those 18x9? Tire size? Any rub? cheers
Thanks!! No rub in Drive. Slight rub in reverse is all. I took a heat gun to the small rub spot on the plastic fender liner and pushed it out a bit. Rub gone. Here is the info on the wheels. Fuel Vectors 18X9 5x150 20 mm offset

There is no good way to answer this without fully understanding what you are going to do with the truck. Less than 2 weeks after owning my 16, I was taking it on difficult trails in Moab, so that makes pretty clear what I needed to do. Many trucks never see those kinds of trails ever, so if you're in that boat the answer is definitely 16, add tires, remove running boards, and do whatever else makes sense slowly. Here is my truck bone stock with running boards removed and 285/70/18 tires. It looks great, but I knew I would need some lift and sliders for my use.

so if you're in that boat the answer is definitely 16,

Matt, definitely . . really? I think its more a personal preference, but I see for you that was the definite answer. Not throwing stones

Does the ‘15 have the different off-road modes? Mud vs Sand vs rock???

Yes, MultiTerrain Select, 5 modes, but they are only available when in low range.

Are there any other creature comfort differences you guys can think of?

16+ has blind spot monitoring, although I have heard comments from friends that have it in their vehicles that they find it annoying and shut it off. Heated seats have an "Auto" setting which I believe is handy if you use remote start, it will automatically engage the seat heat/cool depending on ambient cabin temp. I think there is also wireless charging for your phone?

Auto wipers?

All 200-series have auto wipers. I disconnected them in my 2011, they were terrible (disconnecting the sensor puts them in standard delay mode). They are tolerable in my 2015, but not as good as the ones in our '13 IS250.

Auto high beams?

Yes. Wondering how useful this is? I'm curious.

Safety features?

Probably more auto braking stuff. The '15 has some of that.

My favorite change in the 16+ (I drive an 08) is the central relocation of various buttons. On my 08, some on hidden from view to the left of the steering wheel on the dash...while others are on the right--also hidden from view. The 16+ sticks them all front and center, which I'd love to have.

I finally had the opportunity to ride in one (@indycole's rig on a run to town in Baja). Certainly a nice interior. Then again...so was Tony's previously version interior.

I agree with Markuson about the switchgear. I really dislike the hidden switches to the left of the steering wheel on my 2013 — they are very hard to distinguish by feel.

I agree with Mcgaskins, post up what you are expecting from the truck. do you need to haul a family to the beach and be able to get through the sand without issue? planning on hitting up moab/Colorado for days at a time? or some combination in between.

The 200 series is quite capable straight off the lot, with tires...throw on a 80$/pair of spacers and they sit level and clear most obstacles 90% of the public will ever see.

for that scenario, get the newest vehicle you can afford. it will hold value better and feel more modern.
If you are looking to get out and hit some more technical trails and want a dedicated wheeling truck with front/rear/side armor, shop older and build up as you desire.

cant go wrong either way.

That looks great and about where I want to start if mine will just hurry up and arrive at the dealer already. No rubbing with that size? Mind me asking where you got the red recovery points? :)

ARB tow points. Really nice quality - I've added them to 3 trucks now.

No spacers and only rubbing was on the rear mud flap and lower skirting on the front fender which was easily remedied. I know a lot of people use wheel spacers, but I hate them personally and was very pleasantly surprised the stock 16 wheel had plenty of clearance on the UCA with these tires.

Okay. I currently have a 2015 f150 Platinum that honestly has all the bells and whistles with massaging seats...

My wife drives a new (2017) Escalade so that has room for taking the 4 kids around.

I do tow a boat 2-3 times a year (it spends most of its life in a slip).

This will be a daily driver that I would eventually turn into an overland style rig. Not Moab style off-roading but Texas Hill Country and east Texas hunting grounds (think mud).
