I replaced one side and compared both sides together. I don't have any data.

Would be nice if you could supply some or any evidence that they are actually brighter.

I spent a lot of time researching bulbs before I put the Xtreme 2s into my 200 then the Osrams into my daily, and there was lots and lots of agreement that they were an improvement over stock, to varying degrees. Lots of anecdotes, but also plenty of data albeit often from places making money selling this stuff.

If you are looking for side-by-side of the Osram night breakers against new Toshiba lamps, I doubt you'll find that. But then I'm assuming your lamps weren't new either.

Whether they justify the cost increase over base model Osrams is more subjective, but to say they aren't any brighter than what I'm assuming are well-worn original lamps goes against the experience of a whole lot of people posting their experiences online.

When I bought the philips lamps for my 200 they were more expensive than even the nightbreakers and I'm very happy with that purchase. One thing I did realize only recently is that the Philips operate at a higher wattage than stock, so it's easy to explain the increased output. I don't know whether the Osrams are similar.

Then I must be very unlucky for not noticing any difference between both. I kept the originals and keeping the Nightbreaker as spares.

Also maybe your stock ones were worn out and mine were not.

@bloc Osram Nightbreakers are the same wattage as stock. This explains why they are not brighter.

Real time help:
How the heck do you get the passenger side connector off before your rotate the hid housing?! It’s impossible and there is no room! 2013. So hard! Got the driver off after removing the battery but the passenger is pressed against the body

How do the springs work, it seems they have one locked position and you cant get the bulb in with the spring up. With the spring swung down I can get the bulb in, but can’t swing the spring up with the bulb in. Thanks

Do you push the bulb and holder in while the retaining spring is in the locked position or do you push the light bulb and holder in and then try to clip the spring in the locked position after the bulb is in place?

I’m very happy with both the expensive Philips xtremevision in my cruiser and the cheaper osram nightbreakers in my DD.
@bloc were these replacements for your high brand, low beams, or both? Would you still recommend these? It seems my day runners/highs are tired and need replacement.

Those were for my HID low beams. The Philips Xtremevision 2 or something along those lines.

I run the 9011 HIR bulbs in my high beams and love them.

Hey, @bloc, are these the 9011 HIR's you run for the high beam/day lights?

Amazon product ASIN B00480J5CW
And from above, you're running Philips X-TremeVision for the low beams right?

My flickering low beam has become intermittent on and off. Time to change the bulbs. The cost of the X-TremeVision is a bit of a shocker. I'd personally like to see the difference side but reading your post above is as close as I'm going to get. I'm curious why you went X-TremeVision on on your cruiser and osram nightbreakers on your DD. I assume your DD isn't another cruiser.

This weekend I am planning to replace all of the bulbs and will try to do a before and after comparison.

I am installing diode dynamics ss3 fogs and figured I would update everything with diode dynamics while I am at. Not cheap, but high quality, made in USA kit.

Replacing the low beams with the same size HID bulbs, high beams with LEDs, front and rear indicators with LEDs, and reverse with LEDs.

That does look like what I installed. Philips in the cruiser and osrams in the DD reflect how much I care about each.. the DD is worth about a fifth of the cruiser. Plus I don’t remember whether the NightBreakers were available when I upgraded the lows in the cruiser. After seeing what they do I’d be fine installing them in a 200 and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.. but it would also be in the back of my head that Philips makes the best bulbs. IMO of course.

As for side by side.. hopefully someone can help with that. I did keep the old bulbs but don’t want to go fiddling around with them. Plus I don’t have the requisite equipment to measure light output or accurately capture beam pattern.

As an aside, a couple trips now with the Rigid light bar in the grille and can’t say enough good things about it.

So I know there are o-rings needed for the HIDs are there similar o-rings for the halogen high beams? Look in FSM but did‘t find anything for high beams.

bump on this. I don't think there are replaceable o-rings on the high beams but not sure.

I replaced my stock halogen high beams with 9011 HIR a couple months ago and IIRC they came with a new o-ring on the bulb unit.

Installed I HIDs and new high beams today. Struggled a bit with the HIDs as it was very hard to rotate the heat sink/covers to get them off and same for putting them back on. I had to use a bit of dielectric grease on the new gaskets to get them on. RTH - HID replacement - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/rth-hid-replacement.1306262/

Also, these:

are not right for the 200. The tabs are 90 degrees off so you cant get the plugs back on. I used a dremil to trim one fat tab to make them fit.

That is just the process for fitting 9011 HIR bulbs into 9005/6 housings and documented well online.

A toenail clipper does a great job with trimming the relevant part.

Hmm. I somehow missed that part. Thanks.

When I replaced my HIDs this last weekend I had trouble figuring out how to release the spring because I couldn’t really see what it looked like in there. All I could do is feel around so I used my new DJI Action 2 to cast video to my phone. I couldn’t get my head in there but the camera is small. Here’s a pic of what it looks like. After seeing that, it was easy for me to understand how to release the spring.
