KLF, you are right. There are 10 in mine.

From the front to the rear
1 centre speaker. I have seen this. It is an el cheapo. I would ignore its contribution.
2,3 at the front corners. Worth upgrading.
4,5 the tweeters in the A pillar. Can be replaced if you go with the component speakers. Or you can ignore if going for 2/3 ways in the doors.
6,7 in front doors. 6"x9" oval. Best candidate for replacement with 2/3 ways.
8,9 in rear doors. Another good candidate for replacement with 2/3 ways.
10 behind right third row seat. Opening is only half round. I believe this is the 8" subwoofer.

Correct me if I am wrong.

There's 2 more in the lift gate. So 12 total.

lc200mel / Anyone,

Two questions.... I see in above posts that front door speakers are 6x9.

1) What is the size of the rear door speakers (below the tweeter)?

2) What is the size of the tweeter in the rear door ? (Online I see 1" and 3/4 " models for sale).

Thanks!

Thad

Old post but just got my LC so chiming in if anyone is interested

i count a total of 14 speakers in my rig

Front is 6x9”. You can get any 6x9 speaker and use the original plastic piece as the bracket. Screw new speaker onto old plastic speaker frame. Just remove all paper bit.

Rear has no tweeter, I think. See my speaker count of 10 in previous post. Note that mine is a 2008 Sahara.

REPLACED FRONT SPEAKERS - 2008 LANDCRUISER
I just replaced my front speakers. I googled to understand the impedances. Most speakers in the 2008 Toyota Landcruiser with JBL and 14 speakers system are 2 ohms.

The front ones are 6x9" @ 2 ohms. I purchased the Memphis Audio PRX69S from Crutchfield:
https://www.crutchfield.com/g_400/A...FSpeaker_Size|6x9&nvpair=YCImpedance_(Ohms)|2

I used the provided wire adaptors from Crutchfield. Note: Amazon will not provide wire adaptors.

Here are some pictures I took. Includes impedance comparison between OEM and Memphis Audi PRX69S. OEM speaker is the one with the gray small magnet.

Ideally, I would have replaced with a 2 ohms. I purchased the Memphis thinking it was 2 ohms but as you can see in the picture above. They are ~ 2.7 ohms compared to the OEM ~1.7 ohms. I had hard time finding a 2 Ohm speaker unless you purchase original Toyota.

I had to remove some small plastic tabs from the OEM speaker plastic adaptor so the new speaker seats flash with the adaptor.

Overall it sounds good. I did not want to overhaul the entire sound system.

Ummm.... I'm no electronics or audio expert, but DC resistance is not the same as impedance. Impedance is a calculated value after doing testing with a frequency generator, measuring the response of the speaker.

Still, those speakers are rated at 2 ohms from the manufacturer, so they should work well. I wasn't aware that Crutchfield is selling 2-ohm speakers now, so this might be a summer project for me. My speakers are done.

If anyone is looking for new OEM speakers, I have new in box front door speakers (two 8616060670) and the center channel dash speaker (8616060660). I bought them to refresh the high mile 2008 Land Cruiser I used to have, but I sold the 200 before I replaced the speakers. They fit all year 200 series Land Cruiser but not the LX 570.

Correct. In fact speaker resistance varies depending on frequency. A 2 ohm speaker is rated at that load, but may be 1.2 ohms or 50 ohms depending on the frequency being reproduced.

You are correct about impedance measuring with an ohm meter. I am measuring DCR which is the resistance of the speaker coil. However, the resistance range measured by an ohm meter should be slightly lower and close to the rated impedance. Impedance can only be measured by applying frequency, but most of us (DIY) will have a multimeter handy for a quick check.
