BTT, the 2UZ VVTi camshaft (passenger side) when resting at TDC has a tendency to spin clockwise 1-3 teeth off, whilst the driver side has a tendency to spin 1/3 rotation counter clockwise based from my experience. It is super important during the TB reinstall process to take all the time to align the markings, check a hundred times if necessary. Disaster usually happens when things are rushed.

Wow, worst valve damage I've seen.

VVTi is 2006-2007 USA model. Which MFD Date for 2006, starts in 2005.

Someone once had a used 2005 listed for sale online. Pictures showed, it had a VVT 4.7L 2UZ. Likely, seller was looking at ID plate on "A" pillar. Seeing production date was 2005, listed as such.
Example 2006 LX. MFD DATE 06/05 (June 2005)

VVT is "Time" to the T's. Which prevents the cams tendency to spin. None VVTi, either "I" or "T" is fine. We still check either to the "I" once belt on, tensioner set.
L-CAM is BK1 (your Left, as you sit in driver seat)
Time to T and check at I (5).webp
