@Mauser ... Anybody have a clue on how many keys you can actually have programmed to the vehicle. I just got 2 spare keys from 1010keys with the programmer and it seems to only want to accept only having 3 keys programmed at any given time... doesn’t matter if it’s the two new keys plus one of the OEM keys, or the two OEM keys and one of the new ones... they’ve all worked at some point so the chip is not the issue, the issue is I can only get 3 to work at any given time.... In addition to all of this my wallet key doesn’t work now which again leads me to believe the car will only have only let up to 3 keys at any given time programmed..... does this sound familiar to anyone?... For some reason I thought the limit was 5 keys

BTW It is an 03 LX

Pretty sure its four....after which you have to delete programmed keys in order to add additional ones.

When you clear the transponder keys memory does the central locking memory get cleared at the same time? New keys transponder married fine but I can't get the central locking to marry.

Here is a crappy video I made showing how to add remotes. Pay no attention to my dirty truck.

I have done the lock dance maybe 10 times now and I can relearn the master that came with the truck all day long but I cannot get the new key to learn. I don't know if the cheap key just is dead on arrival or what. LED flashes on when I hit any buttons. Was hoping to be able to do this with techstream but there are no options for it. At a loss

Probably incorrect frequency. Aftermarket keys can be hit or miss.

Do you know if your new key has the correct transponder chip in it?

Many 'Ebay/Amazon' keys do not.

It starts the truck, so I'd say yes.

This is what I bought, has the correct transponder chip being a 4c just strange that the remote frequency is different.

OK, my 'bad'. I read that as your 'key' not working....instead of your keyless entry FOB.

IF the fob is the correct frequency....then its just a matter of doing the 'Hokey Pokey' with it just right. Mine took several tries.

If you will post your 'procedure' we can look at it maybe see something that is amiss or something different you can try.

I have the same problem with my '05 LX. Starts the truck but can't program the fob. I probably have the wrong frequency as I have tried everything.
If @777300er is willing to try to mail to each other our respective Fob's without the transponder chip we can both see if we have each other's correct frequency.

Exactly as in Mauser's video, key in and out twice with doors shut and locked, lock and unlock five times with the lock indicator with one second intervals. Close and open door. Repeat lock sequence. Key in ignition to on, then off and out. Truck confirms programming mode with a lock cycle. Hold lock/unlock for approximately 1 second with master already programmed, hit lock button on key. Truck confirms with a lock cycle. Perform hold'n'press on new key. Nothing. Have done this by walking around the truck while doing it, inside the truck, nothing.

And look, there's no reason to have that tone with me, I did specify central locking, which Mauser picked up on right away.

Anyways,

Looking through service records at one point the truck had 4 keys programmed as valet keys sometime in '03. Are remote keys always masters or can they also be valets? And if so is there any specific method to clearing the LOCKING memory, not the transponder memory in the ecu.

Thanks in advance,

Print this out, follow it to a 'T' and let us know at what point (if any) it fails. When doing the door 'lock/unlock' it can be sensitive to the 'cadance'. About 1 second intervals....works for most.

As for you comment about 'TONE'......I'm not sure where you got that from. But just to be clear....I don't really give a damn if you get your key programmed or not. I understand you are frustrated with it....but we are trying to help you with it. So I recommend you cool your jets, answer any questions we may have (whether you understand the reason for them or not) and be patient.

Try the above and let us know what happens.

Just got a new key from 1010 keys this week. Both are from 1010 keys for my 04 LX470. The flip style key on the right, I could never get the fob to work the locks. Ive tryed several times. No issues getting the truck into programming mode. Just never worked. Starts the truck fine.

The key on the right I just programmed to start the truck using the guide posted a few pages back 2004 LX470 transponder key programming instructions - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/2004-lx470-transponder-key-programming-instructions.936959/post-12258399

And I was able to get it to unlock and lock the doors on the second try. I have these two aftermarket keys, the emergency card key and the valet key

It should be noted that I originally only had the emergency key and the valet key, and ive been able to add keys. Got the OEM style so that yotamd would be in my future

Worked great after two tries. I bought a legit lexus valet blank from ebay, took it to a local locksmith (AMax in Beaverton, OR), had the key cut from the master for $36, and then programmed the "valet" key as a master key with this method. Works great. Big thanks.

The instructions on page 1 worked perfectly for my 05 lx470, thanks!
@serran8r @menancyandsam (I know I am years late but just in case you still have the issue)

Keys purchased: (BLADE CUT by PHOTO) 2 FOB REMOTE KEYS w/4D CHIP DIY POSSIBLE for LEXUS | eBay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/152605377465 (1010keys lx470)

Programming the transponder:

To delete all keys except the current master key:
  1. Close all doors.
  2. Insert master key in the ignition and remove key. Do this 5 times.
  3. Insert master key in the ignition.
  4. Open and close driver door 7 times. Security light will blink.

  6. Insert new key. Security light will blink. Wait for about 1 minute until the security light stop blinking.
  7. Remove new key.

indicating successful entry into programming mode.
Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.
6. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.

  • Repeat steps A and B in step 6 for each new remote.
7. Open drivers door.

I have read many posts regarding 2003/2004 models require dealer/locksmith programming. I have used these instructions 3 times to delete and add keys to a 2004 LX470 successfully. YMMV.

Will the truck find the master key automatically or do I need to press the lock or unlock buttons or both?(key fob)

Will the truck find the master key automatically or do I need to press the lock or unlock buttons or both?(key fob)
The above steps are for:
  • Delete all keys except the current master key
  • Add master key
I don't understand what you meant by "will the truck find the master key automatically?" Which step(s) you don't understand?

I tried both on my 2004 non us market 100 series, the key itself programmed smoothly since the key I have is the master, but I have no luck with the remote. This is the key I bought from amazon Link. I tried cycling 3 times to see how many remotes has been programmed, the lock cycled 5 times while there is only 4 remotes that can be programmed to the truck. Then I did again with cycle 5 times to erase all the remotes, as well as cycle 1 and twice. Neither would work, nothing would happen when I press lock&unlock for 1.5 sec and then press lock.
