bump ....please chime in to help me get rid of this blinking light. Thank you.

Does anyone know the hole size in the spring perch on the axle that bolts the air bag in place? I am coming up with a better bolt on solution to convert the air bags over to coils but I need that bolt size dimensions.

I believe we just pulled all the fuses and relays, light never comes on.

I know this is an old thread, but wondering if any of the guys that made the swap to coils can chime in and give an update to how the ride is now... I need t odo something about the rear suspension in my 2006, and I was leaning towards going with the Coil Springs instead of airbags. I am very interested in the Arnott springs or FJ Cruiser OEM springs. My goal is no lift since the wife is the main driver.

Thanks

FJ OEM springs (and upper cups) fit and ride fine. Do it!

I don't know about the FJ spring rates, as I've never ridden in one with those springs retrofitted into a GX. However, as I mentioned earlier, I installed Arnotts and Bilsteins, and the ride is a little soft in the rear for my taste (my wife says it feels exactly as it always did to her, but I felt the rear of the GX - even with the air bags and factory adjustable shocks - was too soft.)

DanKunz has had enough experience with these trucks that I'd trust his recommendation about the FJ springs...................

Honestly, FJ or 4R springs will be firmer than the stock airbags, but not disgustingly stiff like an aftermarket. Either way, the fitment is assured.

Would 4R springs leave it at stock height or give a little stinkbug stance?

Unsure (never did it) but I would think FJ springs would be better than 4R since they are more inline with the weight profile...but I am guessing there.

Thanks guys...I feel much more comfortable about pulling the trigger on the coils with your input

Do you guys know if the 5th gen 4runner rear springs would work? The vehicle weight is more inline with the GX

I too will be joining the "Rear coil spring club" shortly. Seems like it is on its way out. Replacements will be OEM 4runner V8 (4th gen non electronic) springs and shocks/ struts (upfront). We shall see how it pans out :hmm:

As an FYI, I just did the MetalTech rear coil perches + 2010 FJC springs (w/ 40k mi on them). with a full tank of gas and no 3rd row I am ~1/4" over stock height.

How about some pics

Cheers.

I'll get some photos Sunday.

So I just swap out my airbags and put in fjc rear Coils, and I put in my icon shocks. I pulled the two fuses in the main fuse block and unplugged the compressor and air splitter valve... Anyhow I still have the dash lights on, and the "off" is flashing. How do I get the light to either not flash or completely disappear?

Are you guys running the $250 kit from MetalTech, or the $60 kit and sourcing your own Prado parts? I haven't been able to find them...

I'm running the $60 kit from MT and using some fjc coils and spacers I got from a friend along with some icon shocks.... I'm only in it like $150 total. Just waiting for the OME BP-51s to be released for the 120 chassis.
