Hello all,

Just introducing myself to the group. I've wanted and hunted for an 80 series Land Cruiser with lockers for about 2 and a half years. Finally realized I was looking for a unicorn because the good ones were always snagged up immediately, or the asking price was extremely high. I decided to expand my search to a 100 series Land Cruiser which lead me to the GX 470.

(GX 470 vs 100 LC: same engine, less weight, nicer interior, cost less = no brainer)

I like to thank DanKunz for being a pioneer and proving the capabilities of the GX. It's been a treat looking at everyone's threads, and witnessing people's creative ideas bouncing off each other. This lead me to choosing the right SUV for me and my family. It took me a month of being in the market for a GX, to find one.

I purchased my GX last month and look forward to modifying my expedition/camping vehicle.

Thanks guys.

Thegentleman- you did pretty amazing work in such a short time...it was sad to hear about your hiccup last week.

Joe- OPOR sliders, 2-3 inch lift (still figuring out which one), ARB rear air locker, not happy with any current front bumper options (want something similar to slee short bus)

Air Suspension has been swapped out by previous owner. I believe stock height springs and bilstein shocks. He didn't have any details on what was done. It feels kinda bouncy and has body roll around corners. Definitely needs improvement and will need community help for trouble shooting/suspension suggestions.

Current Mods- BFGOODRICH AT 265 70 17, neoprene seat covers, yatour Bluetooth adapter (I might have pulled the trigger early on the yatour because I saw the Prado android gps dvd player option today), had hood bumper and fender repainted due to major rock chips and scratches (every future blemish will be my own on/off road memory)

This will be a slow build. I was comfortable purchasing the gx but all the mods I'd like to do immediately would stress the wallet. Sadly, I do not wrench and jealous of those who do, but im willing to learn what I can.

Thank you and its all good ... if blowing the diff is probably the 3rd or 4th worst thing that could happen to your vehicle than any other hiccup should a breeze.....

Don't be afraid to wrench on anything ...
It's like making love to a woman.... no one knows what they are doing at first till they get thier hands dirty .... just match the right shape to right socket and go to town ...
If your unsure ask someone or look it up ... but the more you do it the more confident you'll be ....

if you don't have a tool , buy the tool don't borrow it ... 10 out of 10 times you'll need it again

Heck my 4 and 3 yr old was helping me today... while the 10 month old is making sure 3/8 ratchet is spit polished ....
You can do it!!

Cool, I'll look forward to your progress! I too do things here and there, and watch guys like theGentleman with astonishment - getting so much done in such a short time!

I too would encourage you to wrench. Much of the work - if you stop and think about it - is actually easy. It's always good to reach out to others locally also, most folks will happily help and share knowledge.

I'm looking to get an Icon suspension lift, Light Racing UCA,, MetalTech lower links, and rear coil conversion kit. This will be a cost effective version of the Icon stage 3 lift. What are your thoughts on this set-up? Any possible concerns?

I remember reading something negative on another thread with SPC UCA and extended travel set-up (something about maxing CV). Can anyone elaborate on that comment and topic?
