Hello all,

I've been in the market for a 100 series TLC/LX470, but have been avoiding the 2003-2005 LX470s because of the integrated, bumper hitch. I plan to pull side-by-sides 5-10 times per year on a large flatbed trailer that will be around 5000-5500 pounds. I've been searching through the forums, but I have had a tough time finding answers to this.

I looked at aftermarket hitches through etrailer and most claim 5000/500 (GTW/Tongue weight in pounds) with a weight-carrying hitch and around 6000/750 with a weight-distributed hitch. The 06 and 02 LX470 manuals claim 6500 GTW and 650-975 Tongue weight depending on hitch and 6500 GTW. Is there an aftermarket hitch that is rated for the same weights as the manual, and if not is there still a way to purchase a below-the-bumper hitch from Toyota/Lexus (assuming a TLC hitch would fit an LX470). I found these part numbers for the hitch, but I'm not sure if they're correct: PT22860022 for Lexus and PT22860033 for Toyota.

Thanks in advance.

IMO the 03-05 LX is the sweet spot for 100's. Definitely the most bang for your buck.

A used OEM hitch (under the bumper style) is cheap and easy to find, I think I paid $50 for mine. The OEM hitch leaves more room for the spare which is preferred. Doesn't matter if it came off of a LX or LC.

Where did you get yours if you don't mind me asking?

From a local guy, I think I posted a want ad in the classifieds here. Check FB marketplace, craigslist, etc. They aren't hard to find.

I agree with GTV- the 03-05 Years have a lot to offer, and the integrated hitch doesn’t prevent you from using a bolt on aftermarket hitch solution. Fwiw, my LX470 came with an aftermarket hitch mounted by the PO that I removed due to the loss of departure angle it created. I used the integrated hitch on my LX for a couple of years to pull a 5x10 landscape trailer stacked high with tree debris (I’m an arborist) before building a 4x4Labs bumper kit, and never had any issue. I certainly don’t advise going overweight on towing capacity, bit the LX pulled every load I placed on it without hesitation.
