Installed and I'll give it a resounding "meh". First off, they look stupid next to the yellow DRL's, very obvious color difference. I'm waiting until dark to be wowed by the output. The DDM relay is mediocre. If you're not electrically inclined, it'd be fine, but I've got to agree with others that having one that built to length would be better (and probably higher quality).

So after a month or so my "5K's" seem to keep getting bluer. Maybe it's me, but for the first 5 minutes these suckers are blue. After a while running they start to show some white. I'm affraid ddm maybe of slipped me some 6K bulbs... I think I'm going to order some 4300K bulbs for backup, I'm planning a HId retro in the next few weeks. Mainly becuase I was behind a police car last night in the rain and the relection was so brigh and the pattern was scattered into his mirrors and back seat and lit it up like stadium lights, I was getting nervous of a ticket, I could see him adjusting his mirrors and looking back at me like "WTF?!".

Don't get me wrong, I love the HID stuff. But a few things I could do to make them a little nicer for me and others on the road.

Trunk- post some pictures when you get a chance. That will be my final decision on my plan to go lightforce and retro hid's into them.

Well I finally got around to installing my HId kit. I must say that I do like th lights much more than stock. However, I don't like the fact that now the lights don't match. I have not had anyone flash me so I am assuming that they are aimed correctly.

I had a chance to check out the output of these HIDs tonight. I bought the 35W 4500K H3 bulbs and installed them into the Hella 500s on the front of my 80, wired up with the Slee harness. The Hellas aren't aimed properly after being R&Red, but the HIDs do seem to pump out a lot of light (after they warm up for 5-10 seconds). The light has a slightly bluish tint to it from the driver's seat, but it's not "ricey" by any means. I'll have to wait until I aim them and get some longer night time country drives on them to really form an opinion.

So the kit is apparently sitting at my dad's house. However for that ebay harness, the link they sent me to my tracking info, better not be mine, as its currently routed to Hawaii.
Sent an email to the seller about 24 hours ago, still no acknowledgement yet.

Anyone found another good source for a cheap and effective ballast mounting bracket? The ebay link earlier in this thread is now dead, but I'm tired of having my ballasts rattling around in my battery trays.

Go out to your garage, dig around and get creative... I found some old training wheel brackets that were pre-drilled

Did you ever fix the blobs of light from the projectors?

nope... I have been neglecting my truck big time! This time of year is ROUGH for any free time for me. I will do this in the coming weeks and post some pics.

DDM can suck my #$$@

Call DDM about my order I was told once they receive the order back from USPS it would be a couple of weeks and it would be reshipped. Ok not a good answer but I can work with that .....Lets cancel my order then.....After almost 1 hour on the phone Melissa tells me they cannot cancel my order WHAT? wrong answer

American Express cancel there money in 3 minutes flat. :flipoff2: (with smile deleted)

Maybe after I calm down I will re-order with new address, new AMEX card

Received my new HID kit from DDM tunning yesterday and all the parts were in place.(new address, new AMEX card:flipoff2:)

Just finished a test run and DDM spec are very close according to my test. I plan on doing a UTube video on the test in the next couple days.

I used a Optima Blue batery out of the vehicle fully charged and discharged to 13.2 volt to match the published Vnorm on the ballast name plate.

Peak starting amperage was recorded after about 10sec 5.2A(~68w) and ramped down from there to a running amerage of 3.2A(~42w) Factory low beam lamp is spec'd at 51w.

DDM name plate on ballast
Bulbtype - 35W
Vin - 9-16V DC
Vnorm - 13.2V DC
Inorm - 3.2A
Lin max - 5.5A
Pout - 35W norm
Tcase - -40°C ~ +105°C

Yeah, I checked the Apexcone ones and they were just slightly higher than DDM's site specs, but barely. Still makes me wonder why they wouldn't fire without the relay in place.

Apexcone is what DDM sent me.

If your supply voltage was below 13.2V the amperage reading would be higher

Ah, I thought you might have ordered the DDM branded ones that are $49.

I'm still on the fence about them. I like them from the driver's seat, but from outside they sure look odd. I've thought about ordering a set of 3.5k bulbs to see if there's any difference or if DDM just gives you the option to make you feel better, but all the bulbs are the same.

I order 35W 4500K Apercone $29.99 + $10 shipping

I read somewhere where 35W 4500K out was 3 times lumen output. I have a lumen meter and plan on running a test to see how true it is.

I just ordered the 55w apexcone sp? ones in 5000k and will post pics and review when and if I get them.

i've used some extra heavy duty scotch/3m double sided mounting tape, so far so good in my altima. there should be good room in the land cruiser too.

another question, where did everyone run the wires for their relay? and pictures in the engine bay. i was looking under there the other day and i didn't see a great place for it? any help
