Just curious, but I can’t find much love/info on 275/65R18 tires. I’m looking at SL AT4W’s on 18” +45 Evo’s for my 19 LX. My priority is snow traction and not worse mpg. I use the LX for highway commuting primarily and really don’t like the stock 21 Dunlop’s. We had 2” of snow a couple weeks ago, and I slid 1/2 way down my driveway. Not exactly the legendary 200 Series experience I was expecting.

Sounds like you want Michelin Defenders

True. I have LTX’s on my wife’s Pilot. The only tire to last more than 20k miles on that truck. It’s a good choice, probably the right choice, was just looking for something more rugged without feeling like I’m driving on 4 marshmallows.
Thanks,
BobK

If you haven’t gotten the wheels already, consider getting OEM tundra or Land Cruiser wheels as they have the OEM offset. And that tire size is great. Alternative tires include defenders, outpost nAT, and AT3W (you can still get them, and they are lighter than the AT4W).

Try Terra grappler g3, they make an SL rated 275/65 and 275/70r18, both are three peak rated too! and they only weight 43-46 lbs which is pretty close to the OEM grandtreks.

He’s upsizing the tire a bit. Changing tire size changes the desired offset. The +45 offset will actually be closer to ideal than a +60 Tundra/LC wheel.

Can you explain why you think +45 offset will be close to ideal? 275/65/18 is not even 3% larger diameter than stock, and is marginally narrower.

That thing needs 285/70/18 and it would look (though maybe not drive) absolutely perfect.. or better yet those wheels were available in 17s with something like 285/75/17 😁
cant afford 285s

yup wish 17s.. wasnt there..

so i am doing best with what i have...

going down to 245s next

It’s probably splitting hairs. I’m sure there are reasons to go with OEM wheels over the Evo wheels, but offset probably isn’t one of them. Pretty sure the 21” wheels on the LX are actually slightly lower offset than the Tundra wheels. And Toyota spec’d a ET50 wheel with small 33” (32.5) tires earlier on in the 200 series run.

I will say I wrote having it in my mind that he was going with a 33” tire, because I was going to write a post about how he should do a 285/65R18 instead of his suggested size. I ended up not writing that one because it occurred to me his goals are completely different than mine, but the thought remained. I personally wouldn’t buy tires for a 200 smaller than a 33”. But I’m not as worried about MPG.

There’s quite a few threads on offset here, if you want to see the theory on why you want lower offset the taller the tire gets. Width doesn’t really play into it.

Trying to discern the offset importance while looking for 18” wheels. Have a 09 LX and curious and found these wheels from a new Lexus

Wheels:
Factory OEM Lexus
18x7.5
Offset +50
Center bore 95.1

Tires:
265/70-18
Toyo Open Country AT3

I’m going to guess you are forgetting bolt pattern. As that’s not a typical 5x150 wheel. The 300 series (and GX platforms) are all a 6x139 pattern, so incompatible.

The 265 width also suggests it’s probably a 300/GX wheel.

It is not possible to mount those wheels on an LX570 - the center bore on an LX570 is 110mm. The wheels cited are 95.1mm.
