I was skeptical of the gray on gold combo when I first ordered the HE but I’m really loving it more and more!! Glad they made it in gray and silver for the final year

Ohhhh yeah. That is one ridiculously sick truck. I wish they offered it in the Army Green paint also.

Very awesome. Such scenic backcountry, epic compared to what I have in Socal.

How's the trailer handling off-road tracks? Do you air down at all?

W.O.W.!

Just stunning!

Where is this place?
Also…What trailer is that? It’s seems unique.
How does it fare on the bumpy stuff?

Thanks for posting. What a great camping spot…

Amazzzzzing pics. Where were you? I was showing my spouse who thought they were ads and not a forum poster's they're so good.

I still think they should offer it, but probably aren't because it wouldn't be exclusive to the last 200s like these two colors are. The Sequoyah and Tundra and Tacoma I believe all offer the army green. I love it, I'm not really a Sequoyah fan but that color and proper badging take a decade off the thing's age because it looks so good.

Where, literally, is this? I want to get in my new-to-me truck and drive there like, right now. How far off the beaten path do you go to get to this spot? Jaw dropping pics. I don't think we would need a camper as it's just two of us but even if so, leave it right there and then go attack all of that open space four wheeling.

It does fine, but is certainly a limiting factor. The levelling jacks keep getting caught on dirt/rocks. No airing down as the off-road aspects of our travels are (lately) pretty short and tame.

One of the spots we tried to access was through about 300-400m of very tight trail. Up/down, rocks, big puddles, sharp turns, overgrown, etc. After making most of the way down, we came across 3 large trees that fell across the trail. My Milwaukee M18 saw only had 50% battery charge left (I didn't charge it the few nights prior) and I couldn't clear the deadfall, plus found MORE similar trees further down. This resulted in having to back up with the trailer all the way back to the main road. Fun stuff!

It's definitely 100x more comfortable than any previous setup we've had. That said, we just listed it for sale today. Considering getting a dedicated camping vehicle that will be more mobile: either a pickup w/ a slide-in camper, a built Sprinter, or something similar.

Trailer is a Hymer Touring GT 550. Link to build thread in my signature.

Locations were all around central/northern~ish British Columbia. Head in any direction and you'll find places like this absolutely everywhere. We spent 4 nights at 3 different locations.

That specific spot is about 4 hrs north of Kamloops, BC. I don't like posting specific locations online, but if you're serious about heading up here, shoot me a PM when you cross the border and I'll hook you up with amazing spots all over southern/central BC (goes for any 'mudder). Do keep in mind that the Canada/US border is currently closed.

Thanks for such a detailed answer! my first thought was maybe lower Alaska… So not too far off. :)

Appreciate the candor and inclusion of misgivings, limitations.

I had a random trail force me to stop a few weeks ago in Utah on the way home from Cruise Moab. Some barely-there, but official road. But even a blocked trail is always better than no trail sitting at home. :)

Was here…

Thanks again.

Where are you located with this trailer?

That's a heck of a log!

I'm based in Vernon, BC. From here you can go in literally any direction and find amazing camping spots and fun trails.

On the wish-list is a ~2 month trip to Yukon, Alaska and the Arctic Circle. One day (hopefully soon!).

Man, do it! I’ve driven the full pipeline road (Haul Road/Dalton Highway) to Prudho Bay…through the spectacular mounts/tundra of the Brooks Range. Went up two more times, but not quite to Prudho other two times.

Jealous of your locale. Honeymoon was in BC. So gorgeous.

By the way… All three trips were in late July/early August & mosquitis were no problem. :)

Some of us have been talking about a smallish group of 200’s heading up. Hmmm…

Anyway, thanks sgain.

You got it! Lol I don't expect to be hailed as a genius for this, but B.C. was my first guess. Never been.

There are PLENTY of places to have fun like that even here just in my state. Hell, I'm 40 minutes from the Smokey Mountains. There's a 100,000 acre off road park right down the interstate not far out of town.

The problem, for lack of a better word, is the outdoorsy areas generally speaking aren't wide open like that, where you were, in this part of the country. Trees everywhere around here, which equals "I need to watch my paint" and "I can't go nearly as fast as I'd like." I've never been to the PNW or Canada, definitely on our list.

Sooo jealous.
You live where my heart and soul long for. Trees, fresh water…mountains…all without driving 14 hours first.

My request for you and B.C. area…
Please post approximately a million photos. :) Will show to wife…drool and sigh…and then hit the road sooner than later. :)

The good and bad about east coast is we have quite a few parks that are large and dedicated for wheeling, the down side is there's also not as much BLM like there is out your way. But the pro is, we can hit many states in the time it takes you to get to Northern CA

I'm surprised to hear about mosquitos not being a problem. I suppose it can vary greatly from year to year, month to month, location to location.

My parents and I drove to Alaska more than a decade ago - in July/August, if I remember correctly - and mosquitos were absolutely brutal. We wore bug nets the entire day, every day.

On this last trip, in that open area next to the big mountains, the mosquitos were insane. Despite our best efforts to keep the trailer closed, I ended up killing no less than 50 of them inside the trailer. They drove us out and we left without breakfast the following morning. The other places we visited had little to no flying bugs: heaven.

As for where to live: grass is always greener. I've driven down to Death Valley twice, because you can't find stuff like that locally. But I do admit that I get tired of the desert climate fairly quick and long to come back to mountains, trees and lakes. I've got lots of photos of various adventures at Overland Tested – Latest posts - https://overlandtested.com/. Scroll all the way down on the homepage and check out this post: Interior Road Trip – Overland Tested - https://overlandtested.com/adventures/2016/07/interior-road-trip

It's mostly the same way here. Pinstripes are inevitable. The photo you quoted above was in the middle of what's normally an enormous lake; technically it's a reservoir, and the locals say it got drained for whatever reason. Normally we'd have been way closer to the forest, and unable to drive through all that terrain. Some of the best trails are frequently so overgrown that you might as well be taking exposed nails to your paint. It is what it is.

Oh you got it. I looked at your profile, San Diego? Surely you could find some fun inland in the desert? We used to live in Los Angeles and once you’d get out of town there were huge, vast off road trails of multiple kinds you could see plainly from the interstate. Stuff I’d love to do bc it’s out in the wide open and I wouldn’t have to worry about my paint. It’s just not really like that here, it’s not expansive like the West.
