Thank you for sharing the pic, it's very helpful! With the bucket modified, about how much further out does the link now sit from the LCA? Half an inch?

The pic looks like you've fine tuned the link's distance from the LCA to minimize binding--achieving an angle better than mounting the link inside or outside an unmodified OEM bucket.

Plus, as you pointed out, you have the added safety margin of a dual-shear mount for the link.

Link sits about 1” further away than it did, and is also on the outside of the arm, not inside. Here’s another picture!

Could you please share specifics about your spacer and link, and why you decided against the OEM links?

And if it isn't too much trouble, could you please post a pic of the completed driver's side arrangement?

Again, thank you for sharing your experience with this modification. There was some discussion a long time ago about doing the bucket modification that you're done, but nobody ever posted any photos of it.

I went with rod ends because after swapping to the tundra arms, you have to move the links outside the bar (like in the picture), but at full droop I was getting binding at the balljoint. Swapping to rod ends allowed me to get to full droop with the rod end just kissing. Using the safety washers allows for further articulation out of the joint. I believe I made the links just a fraction longer than stock to help reduce binding as well. Factory bucket is essentially 1/8th steel. I cut the front off, located the link where I thought it worked best (horizontal at ride height), then bent 1/8th stock on 3 sides. I used some fat washers to make up the gap until I could get an exact measurement and then I'll get some aluminum spacers made. The link rotates around and so every once and a while it'll make a small clanking noise if it articulates while rotated too far, but I've probably put 5k miles and the heims are still perfect.

I used the following items which I bought from Pegasus Auto Racing)

4 safety washers per side (3068-M14)
14mm rod ends (AB-MMMT-M14x2.0-R)
Jam nuts (MJAM-14X2.0-R)

Then female rod end w/grease fitting (6536N5 from McMaster, which I kind of hate and want to replace eventually. Used a longer metric bolt but I'll apologize in advance as I don't remember what length I went with, but ordered from Belmetric.

If/when it comes time to replace the arms, I'll buy new OEM and cut/weld a new bucket on before installing on the truck because trying to overhead tig laying down was a nightmare.

Sweet, what offset will your wheels be ?

Stock HE wheels. I am currently using a spacer in the front. This will eliminate the spacer and give me pretty much the same width. I will keep my spacer in the rear.

Hello, can I have the part # ?

Edit : nvm, zoomed in.

So what's the plan?

It's back on page 18 of the thread, toward the bottom. Maybe into page 19...going from memory.

Tossing in some of my pics as I’m getting ready to do a full build out using tundra arms from Total chaos. I’m going to be using a fixed link uniball end links ( chromoly ) on my setup as it’s the strongest setup and easy to make vs a billet link. The links will be 23.52% longer than the stock end links specifically will be designed for 1-3” of lift.

Anyway, I’m using 5/8 uniballs but they are not wide enough for the lower mount of the TC end link mount so I made some spacers to fill in the gap as well as allowing me to use the 14mm bolt that comes with the TC kit. I believe stock bolt is the same. I definitely make a set out of stock style bushings or grease able poly bushing ( waiting on parts). But I’m using the uniball setup for me as I’m a baja head and I need these to be the ultimate “ baja “ setup.

Are you working with 74Weld on their first prototype 200 portals?!?! You have my attention 😳

😬 maybe lol. 4runner / Tacomas are first though.
Thought my fanboy/keyboard warrior knowledge was slipping 😉

Glad to see you’re connected with them and will be pushing for this platform. I know they’ll probably be out of my personal budget but it’s still amazing to think about how this platform will perform with them, and I hope Quinn sells a ton to the Middle East and everywhere else they are very passionate about them.

Literally was talking to him about the portals will sell overseas for sure. Not so much in the US.

werewolf just got a distributor for their portals in AZ. competition is good !
Very interesting to hear. Good for them.

Hah, I need to talk with him. We're in the same camping group and cross paths from time to time. I've see his wicked Jeep on portals. Didn't know he was looking at 200-series portals.

He wasn’t until I basically convinced him it needs to be done. He says one of his favorite rides is the lc200. It will happen.

Also full billet steering racks. 4r and Tacoma are happening this year for sure.
