Help - I'm having Tundra 18's put on today, and was just informed by the shop that the center caps don't fit on the front wheels when installed. Will someone remind me what the fix is for this problem? I've tried searching but can't seem to lay hands on it.
Quality wheel spacers would be preferred but some members have found a sufficient option is to just modify the grease cap attached to the hub by flattening it slightly and also removing material from the inside of the center caps. Note this is only needed for the fronts. My recommendation is to proceed with the install and have the shop send the caps home with you separately until you decide which direction you want to go.

Or you can just use the stock LC/LX caps. At least with the factory 18s, I'm not sure about the 98-02 16 inchers. Attached pic is of my 04

what about this tundra wheel? Think the OEM LC cap would fit?

thanks. So 16” LC cap will work but not 18”?

The PO of my vehicle (who happens to be on this thread) did this. I always thought it looked kinda cool and never bothered to change it. No spacers.

Thanks to @medtro, center caps installed on my new tundra rims. I used a crude mod technique (removed metal ring, removed one of the clips, the others snapped in pretty snug). Hopefully they hold at 80mph and on switchbacks. . .

I don’t mind the mismatched front and rear caps - I prefer the flatter tundra caps overall so I will leave them on the back. That also allows me to store 2 of each in case of loss or damage.

Running Cooper AT3s now. Quite a noise and ride improvement over the mudders that were on it before at highway speed.

Now I need to decide if I am going to keep the running boards.

I have 200 series wheels on mine and have to modify the 03 LX caps to fit on the rim and then add silicon for insurance. They still fall off from time to time. Does anyone know if the 06-07 LX caps fit these wheels? I get the 03 caps cheap off eBay (knockoffs).
