Disappointing, but thanks for the info.

I would not hesitate to use a remanufactured Toyota alternator that is remanufactured by Denso in Michigan.

That said you can choose a new OEM Japanese-manufactured Denso alternator for the 3UR if you want vs. a remanufactured option (at least for the 200 series through August 2015 manufacture date).

So, there is 27060-38050 (new OEM) and there is 27060-38050-84 (OEM remanufactured)

Post-August 2015 (8 speed introduction): 27060-38140 (new OEM). There is no remanufactured option for the later alternator.

All Toyota diesel engines, for example, only source new OEM Japanese-manufactured Denso alternators. No remanufactured options available-- starters too.

How do we ensure we get a new Japanese-built part over the reman if we are so inclined? Plugging those numbers in I get similar pricing between new and reman.. I assumed the parts systems/counters were just replacing the Japan-built with the reman part.. with your earlier statement supporting that (in my head)

Edit: the similar pricing may be including the core charge applicable to reman units, now that I look into things.

If there is no -84 at the end of it, it will be manufactured in Japan for Japanese-manufactured vehicles (like the Land Cruiser, for example).

The Starter that I ordered in 2020 as noted on the box was not manufactured in Japan. I ordered the part without 84. I am going to guess that the alternator will be reman as well even without the 84 ending part number.

Those parts are not applicable for a Toyota Land Cruiser.

Those are Tundra/Sequoia parts. (XXXXX-0SXXX) parts are domestic manufactured service supply parts for domestic US manufactured vehicles.

@OGBeno Thanks for the education. Now I will know in the future which is the japan part. Interesting the Lexus side also is recommending the domestic reman as noted below.

The japan is not available unless ordered from overseas.

This is a poor method to find parts, order parts, etc., IE: relying on an algorithm or website to do the technical work you need to source the correct parts. Everyone has gotten lulled into thinking technical information on the internet is correct. Most of the time, it's not.

Ideally, talk to a Toyota parts professional (since we know the LX570 is a Toyota Land Cruiser) and request the correct part for your application; in this case, either 28100-38040 or 28100-38080. These are both Japanese manufactured Denso starter assemblies.

Can you get Japanese made parts for the 2UZ? I noticed I had some Canadian, US, and Japanese made Toyota parts when I did 2UZ timing belt, water pump, all idlers and tensioners etc.

Just received notice that my order shipped. Nice to see it's only a couple days for processing with Fred Anderson.

Fred Anderson Toyota seems to have the 20% off and free shipping for orders over $75. You'll see the regular prices (typically 30% below msrp) throughout the site, then you'll see the additional 20% discount when you go to check out.

Makes for some very good prices!

Thanks! Probably not a better time to buy new OEM headlights.

What else do I need? 😂

Edit: actually it won’t let me checkout….hmmm

Can’t get past the ‘Please wait…’ spinning circle of death when I put in my address. I’ve tried on 3 different things (iPhone, iPad, Macbook) and it won’t go any further.
Strange. It let me check out yesterday evening without any issues.

Same, but I don’t see how they had my assortment of stuff in stock. So we’ll see what happens..

Be sure you check out as a guest. I had the same issue until I did that.

Two weeks ago, it was back to school it was additional 15 percent off and free shipping over order of $75. Usually a sale close to holiday.

I just ordered rotors and pads and checked out as guest and order was placed. The updated website has a lot of glitches and not intuitive.
