I have a 72 Blazer that I built quite a while back. I bought it in 92 in real good shape for $1K. Just gears a locker and bearings for the front 1 ton cost that. God I don't want to think how much the rest cost:crybaby:. The wife's 97 FZJ80  it's not a money pit by any means. It's more of a money abyss, but if you want things right you talk to others and see what works, max the card/cards again or cash in some vacation time and take care of it. In the long run doing it right ends up cheaper and gives you better peace of mind. Yes, and all this rambling is from a cheap ass;)

Why do you say people are going on the cheap as it appears to be a complte rebuild with all OEM parts?

curious what the current rate for everything here listed is....or if you were to post this again what would the updated prices be engine and flat rate instl.

Regardless engine haus is a known poor decision ......

As pieces disappear or become rare im sure prices havent gone down. A phone call would confirm it but im not inclined nor in the market.

3500 minimum in parts from Toyota depending on what you need

While the harbor freight winches do work great for the money, if someone wants a warn or superwinch or some brand like that but doesn't have enough cash to buy a new one, check craigslist for a used winch. Typically people buy a winch for their truck, it gets used once, sits on the front of the truck for the next couple of years, truck gets sold, new owner sells winch because he doesn't know what to do with it. Scenarios like that are very common with winches. You can get very nice deals on used winches.

Just wordering why people want to take cheap road with a rig that sold for $45k originally?

Either do it yourself or pay an expert like Robbie (powderpig) or Torfab or IPOR or ACC or Slee to do it right.

Cutting corners on a 1FZ-FE is like saying "Jeeps are cool too"

IMHO, either you do it right and kosher, or you sell the beast and get a Jeep.

It is what it is.
No kidding...drop the coin and drive trouble free for another 300k miles
