Good score.

I checked with my local Toyota dealer here and he shows nothing in the system.

However he is checking with their warehouse in Koln to see if they have something.

Crushers... is it the ECU your looking for or the injector pump?

I have been asking around for the ECU, perhaps in error. If its the pump, can you post the p/n?

Thanks.

see, this is the quandry.
is it the ECU or is it the pump?
it could be the pump but i suspect the ECU, both are interrelated so it would suck to send the pump off for a rebuild when it is the ECU and since the ECU is obsolete then you can not just order the unit.

for the price shown it would be work trying the used ECU.

but to eliminate the problem altogether then a manual pump is the best suggestion.

Is there no one within a reasonable distance, with a kzj78, who you could borrow the ECU and/or fuel pump from? To try out and eliminate the ecu and/or fuel pump.

Also have you actually opened up the current ECu to see if there are any melted components? If this is the case an elctronics guy should be able to replace them for you.

the only other KZ owner in the area has a manual tranny.

Not possible to try out the manual tranny fuel pump?

I am not aware that they are any differences on the fuel pumps betweem auto and manual.

anybody here deal with Fiji?

If you really really want it, I have many staff here at work who have family in Fiji...

Then it can be posted to me here in NZ...
And then on up to you.

that is about $140 CND and well worth the cost.
let me talk to the customer and see what he wants to do...
cheers

Dont forget shipping costs...

Got another hit for an ECU from a local dealer. I put an advert in an NZ auction site. WTD section.
His reply.
This from a supplier .. Re: Toyota KZJ78 Landcruiser Prado - 1KZ-TE ECU A/T 89661-60250 Can supply. $359.00 Delivered, including gst Interested?
This is NZD delivered to my place in Auckland. Might be able to negotiate depending if your man wants an ECU.
Could be easier than the Fiji thing...

hello, can anybody tell me if i can fit a snorkel to my 1994 landruiser prado 3.0 turbo diesel LJ78-TP1?
I am in sydney(australia). the 4x4 is preforming great, but i would like to take it bush and need a snorkel?? any suggestions. thanks

Interesting (worried) to know that the KZJ78 ECU is so rare, definetly cannot find one in the UK as I have a none starting kzj78 auto here KZJ78 STARTING PROBLEM

I do have a 1995 4runner with a KZT engine mechanical fuel pump (no ecu) and it has a manual gearbox ....
I think I am going to have to try and make time to fit the 4runner pump into the kzj78 and see if that works.

Has anyone transplanted a manual 4runner gearbox into an auto kzj78 prado?

From what I have learnt a mechanical pump will cause issues in auto box gear changes.... since I have a 4runner masnual gearbox I might as well use that in the kzj78 ..... might even use the complete engine + box from 4runner to transplant into kzj78.... any thoughts hints and tips are appreciated.

Thank you

P.S A lot of KZJ78s have ended up in Pakistan and it might be worth asking Gibli to see if he can find one there (ecu)

i would do the swap in a second ...
there will be a lot of left over connections ...

post up a thread of the conversion as you tackle it, i am interested in the outcome.
