It has been a while.
I have installed a couple dozen 60/80 series PS over the decades. I have NEVER had to bleed them, install, fill, fire and in a minute or so I have power steering.
Well, that has changed. In the build I am doing I installed a 1HZ into a 1979 BJ40 with a 80 series box. Fired up and nothing. while running i cracked the pressure line to the box and fluid oozed out. That ain't right so ordered new PS pump, not cheap but if it solves the issue then money well spent.
New pump comes in, installed and fired up, nothing again.
to date I have replaced:
2 reservoirs, 2 new return lines, 3 pumps (one from running unit), 2 pressure lines, the 80 series box is brand new (no pressure getting to it anyway),
with engine off and the front wheels in the air, cranked from lock to lock (for literal hours). fired and cranked. read somewhere sometimes you need to bring the rpm up to 3000 for a few seconds, did this. the pressure at the pressure line is a pour now but no pressure.
frustration has set in. I have talked to many cruiserheads and no one has any more suggestions.
If you have had this issue, what did you find?
any suggestions welcome.
