Machinist has gone .75mm overbore.

So I will need to order 1mm over, and he wants the pistons so he can bore and hone to match.

So I ordered from Australia engines.

I only have videos of the cylinders.. Will need to get online somewhere.

Fuel pump mount, will need to get one bent up. Maybe put the power steering res where the charcoal canister.

Need more nightmare juice?

Ofer came by and we started bolting things together

20251102_163333.webp

Remember that white grease from earlier, it comes from the Australia engines kit.

Its what they supply amd recommend for assembly

Then we had to stop.,
20251102_201842.webp

Four of these bolts were missing
I called the machine shop, they used them to hold down the block while machining. They could not find them (not their fault).

So then we waited for them to come in.

I didnt find out till weeks later, the four bolts were in a seperate bag with the pistons and not with the rest of the bolts.

Your posting the process from some time ago?

With all the expense you've gone to with machining and part replacement, new bolts for critical torque to yield stuff like crank girdle, head, conrods would have been high on the parts list.

I've reused them in the past with mixed results. In the scheme of an engine rebuild, they aren't a big ticket item. The result of a failure is

Ring compressor came in.

20251105_073606.webp

Its garbage, i do not recommend.

20251107_165050.webp

Also got the 4 bolts in.

Round-the-clock 4 missing bolts too! There were in with the pistons and rings. Not with the rest of the bolts. Thats how you loose a week or two.

20251108_154009.webp

Time to check ring gap!

Looks like its spot on

Now we are at November 9th

I take a good look at the rods, should have done this earlier.

20251109_114026.webp

Thats not good, oiling hole is not centered and the bushings is not inserted all the way.

20251109_114054.webp

Ewww

20251109_114743.webp

This one looks worse in the side of the rod.

20251109_115805.webp

I put a wrist pin through, I have variable length con rods..
20251109_114736.webp

Not so straight.

So I have to decide if I want to replace 1 or all 6.

20251117_133553.webp

Went for all 6, these are forged chromoly from Australia

The tarrifs on these is ridiculous

Also some 20% stiffer valve springs.
Maybe I can add some engine braking in the future.

They also have arb bolts in the rods.

got this so I can maybe make a nice down pipe.

Dang!

Tell us, you didn't spring for those Spool rods, and still re-use bolts?
I'm sweating bullets over here! 🤣

Which bolts are you talking about?

The the fsm doesn't say anything about them being one time use......

@gt7058a I think your lost..

I know. They are torque to yield, just like head bolts or rod bolts.
They get stretched every time they are torqued.
FSM says to check bolt thickness. If they have stretched beyond limits, the thread will be thinner on the base of the threaded part of the bolt. Near the straight shank.
FSM also says if bolts yield before reaching torque, and/or retightening the extra 90⁰, replace the bolt. They anticipate some will yield.

Pretty sure I measured all of them..

Caring out the exhaust manifold gasket, just in case..
20251123_072543.webp

These are the weights of the pistons rods and parts. All matched up, did some clearances on the wrist pins to even them up.
20251124_152141.webp

Totally unnecessary, but free.

20251202_103809.webp

Checked the clearances on the small end.

20251202_172821.webp

Ofer came to help assembly

At $1200 plus tarifs, sadly no
Ouch!

New OEM crank and head bolts are a fraction of that. Maybe $10-15ea

I think he means 13265-17010... At least that's what my mind reader is telling me. Those Cons probably came with their own hardware would be my guess.
I would expect the Spool rods came with hardware
