Love your build thread, doing the same to mine, same color truck! Question I was wondering about, with the aircraft stripper. What did you do about any that got into the frame internally. I’m ocd and this has been bugging me lol
Aircraft stripper is volatile and will evaporate completely. Be super careful using that stuff. It is nearly banned everywhere due to the health hazards associated with it. I didn’t apply it to the inside of the frame. I power washed the inside with TSP soap and then used the Eastwood frame Internal Frame Rust iNhibitor and Coating:

I used this stuff on all my unibody seems and hollow areas.

CEL? Any codes? Could be throttle body related, water temp sensor, or something in your fuse box, Medtro has a long thread on the fuse box related issues. Wonderful build, it's the little things that can slow you down sometimes.
Update: got it started after we found that one ground strap had come disconnected. Started right up. Now all that is left for now is to install the seats, drive shafts, the White Knuckle sliders and the Light/grill assembly. So close to being done with mechanical part of the resto. Body and paint still remains.

Painted the drive shafts

PSA: having learned the hard way. I screwed up my carpet cut by using an online photo I googled for the seat anchor placements. It was from a Right-hand drive vehicle 🤬

Almost done. Just need to find a transmission control rod and hardware that connects the shift lever to the transmission.

🤪 found the transmission control rod linkage today, sanded and painted it only to find that the transmission shifter bolt had sheared off 🤬

What to do what to do?!?

A buddy of mine suggested I drill a hole and put a cotter pin through it. Sounds reasonable.

The highlight of my day was when my 10y old daughter, Jean, came out to help her old man move the White Knuckle sliders a few inches.

It is always fun when the kid(s) volunteer(s) to help!

At earlier ages it’s “I do what dad says… what did he say again?”

At later ages, it’s fun to see the gears turning in their head…. “The old man is stupid! I see a shortcut! WTF just happened!?!? Maybe he’s not quite as stupid as I thought!”

Stop in and say hi next time you are in the neighborhood
Will do! Also - May be a bit early, but not sure what you plan for a head unit. I have the trim piece needed and happy to donate to you if you can use it. I purchased this for my 2000 but sold that and just have it on a shelf now.

Thx for the offer! I’ll take a look at it tomorrow. I know I’ve got a non-functional double DIN stereo in there from the previous owner but the screen is destroyed (cracked).m so it will need to be replaced.

Been looking into how to get a (or two) JL Audio 12” sub behind the passenger side rear quarter panel and going to an all Bluetooth system and an iPad/Android tablet. I found some amps with Bluetooth remotes. Strangely, the ones I found are for Marine applications.

Looks great what top coat did you use on the frame. Surprised you didn’t go extended sway bar links for a little more articulation!
First I stripped the frame down to bare metal and power washed its using TSP soap. Then etched it with phosphoric acid containing zinc phosphate in it for anodic protection. Then I drag lined the frame rails and body seams with Eastwood frame coating paint. This also contains zinc phosphate. On the bare metal that was exposed I used 2k Spray Max Epoxy primer in black and gray alternating layers for color indication if I get deep scratches or chips that need to be addressed after overlanding. This was followed by a final top coat of SprayMax 2K gloss black paint for easy cleaning.
