🤪 found the transmission control rod linkage today, sanded and painted it only to find that the transmission shifter bolt had sheared off 🤬

What to do what to do?!?

A buddy of mine suggested I drill a hole and put a cotter pin through it. Sounds reasonable.

A follow up to this dilemma. The shift lever linkage could be disconnected above the broken thread and I knew I have to replace the assembly in the future anyway, I decided to just weld it in place. weld >= nut IMO

Got the new parking break cable in. Had to drop party off the gas tank in order to install the new cable bracket above the fuel tank.

Also was able to track down why the driver seat heater didn’t work. Two inches of wire had been cut out. Soldered in a new link.

Lots of nice work.

I feel like someone could make some $ making replacement stickers for that.

I’ll get some made up and put up on this site. I’ve got a vendor at work that make us custom polycarbonate (Lexan) overlays. Very good quality. They won’t fade or come apart. The adhesive is permanent. We’ve got thousands of these in the wild all the way back to the early 90’s and they still look crisp.

Was worried I had a high resistance short somewhere. Took out my trusty FLIR ONE infrared camera after letting the car sit inside the air conditioned shop overnight. We are having heat around 104F each day.

I didn’t find anything out of the ordinary on either the engine bay fuse panel or the cabin fuse panel.

Without the key in the ignition:

With the key in the ignition in the ON position:

Here is the in-cabin fuse panel with the ignition off after having it ON for a minute (it was dark and panel was cold without the key in the ignition so the camera showed nothing but a nearly dark screen):

Got two new second position O2 sensors. Hopefully this will help recover some mpg’s. Currently getting 9.75mpg Ouch..
