Wish I could have looked over your shoulder throughout this project. Something I would really like to do someday but I would need some good instructions to guide me. This swap should be published in a swap book. Great work.

Thanks! Yeah I should make a write up for one of the off road magazines...

Is anyone making the motor/trans mounts and any other parts for these swaps?

Really isn't much needed other then motor mounts since the stock cross member is retained. I use dirty dingo engine mounts.

I enjoy looking for the right parts to do this with and enjoy the wrenching. But I don't enjoy my ignorance when exploring uncharted territory. Leads to FRUSTRATION and then job STALL. I would really be interested in a recipe for this swap. Specialty parts such as the fasteners wiring and computer, brackets, etc list and even a package of parts that could be grouped together and sold as an everything your going to need package would be worth something to me.

I could send you a list of things you will need but there is ALWAYS something you will forget or over look... Frustration leads to broken s*** :)

Maybe I missed it somewhere in the thread, but how are your mating this to the transfer case. Or what are you doing for transfer case ?

Mark adapters kit 4L60e to stock 80 tcase

Ok one more question, how hard is it to mate up the wiring. You are splicing the Toyota ecu to the GM ecu ?

Toyota ecu is deleted. Services no longer needed... GM harness requires minimal wires from the Toyota harness to run. Essentially just a keyed 12v, a ground and a 12v crank source to the starter.

Sounds easy just time consuming. Lots of little detail needed

Does Dirty Dingo make mounts specific to the 80 series? Did you retain the stock frame mounts or weld in new ones?

Not 80 specific. But best fitting when. Cutting out the factory mounts. I'd like to make some mounts to bolt onto the stock frame mounts

Would the towing rating be increased with the V8? What part of the drive train dictates how much can be towed, the trans?

My guess would be whatever a 100 series can tow x2 :D Jk.. We'll I would imagine the same as 100 series due to the fact they are close in construction. There are more variables that play in this also. You figure drivetrain wise you could pull whatever a 3/4ton truck would if you run the 6.0l due to they came in the trucks..

Your right but if you decide to make a recipe list id be interested. I was working on a stripped out carriage bolt that I couldn't get to in order to hold it. Hack saw finally ended the frustration a day later. Small job turned big adding chains to the Bush Hog. This build looks exactly right. How much nicer is it to have the extra gearing and smooth shifts?

I apologize if i missed this but just above someone asked if you were mounting to stock tranny and you said yes, then they asked if you were using the Toyota ECU and you said no, you completely eliminated it and are using the GM computer to run the motor and tranny......

so does that mean the GM computer can run the Toyota transmission?

Someone asked if it was possible to I said yes it is. No I'm not running the factory auto as it would need a standalone to do so. Drivetrain is 5.7l ls1 4l60e automatic and stock tcase.

So then how does it feel to have the new gears and smoother shift?
Mine drives like a dream and so will this one :)
Off to the exhaust shop!!
