I think his pm box is gonna fill up fast!!!

This man speaks the truth! But I have cleared out my box so PM me if you have any questions! Next swap is a LQ9 into a 1996 LX450 STAY TUNED!!!!!

I could send you a list of things you will need but there is ALWAYS something you will forget or over look... Frustration leads to broken **** :)

RockJock-

I'm going to be doing this swap before going back to school this summer. I'll be using a 6.0 LQ4 and a 4l60e. If you have a already compiled list I would sure appreciate looking at it. I've read just about every swap thread on mud and think I have a decent grasp of what this will take, however, your expertise would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance-

Half K, if you;re going to do the swap, you might as well get a 6 liter or higher. There is a minimal cost difference between a 5.3 and say, an iron block 6.0 truck engine but with the 6.0 you can use L92 heads which have been known to give as much as a 30HP gain simply bolting them on. Something to think about.

I'm open to answering any questions you guys may have in regards to your conversions. Just PM me. Sometimes it takes me awhile to respond as I'm working 3 jobs :)

This is good to know. The reason I was thinking the 5.3 was availability, they are literally only a few hundred bucks around here, would have quite a bit more power then what I currently have. Also, I am assuming its better on fuel economy then the 6.0 ?

I wish there had been write ups like this back in 2003-2004 when I put an LS1 and 4L60E out of a 2001 Camaro SS into my 40. That was an adventure! I thought it would be easy because of all of the 350TBIs that had been done. Bahaha.

I ran in to issues with the stock radiator from the 40 being able to cool the LS1. Ended up having a custom radiator built which solved the problem.

The 5.3 gas mileage wouldn't be much higher if at all than the 6.0L especially when its pushing a big Land Cruiser. When I do this swap, I will use either the 6.0 or the 6.2 and I want to use the VVT and the DoD if I can get that to work. If I can pick up an extra 1 or 2 mpg it might be worth it. The VVT is the most beneficial; 100% of the available torque from 2000rpm or so all the way through the RPM band.

You can pick that mileage up by running electric fans.

How many 80 series with LS motors do you own? I've had both fan setups. Read Rockrods thread on his mpg gain going with electric.

I ran an electric fan on my 40 with the LS1 in it. My buddy who is a GM Master Mechanic told me it was the only way to go. So I did it.

Great workmanship!
Was it difficult to make the stock shifter work with the 4L60e?

I sent PM for parts list.
