Spent the afternoon beginning to wire up the permanent instrumentation. Gonna run a @Lutz Auto multi gauge, so I got the trans temp, boost, EGT, A/F, and ambient temp sensors installed and wired. It takes 3x as long when you wanna do it right...

Well, we are long overdue for a 'wrap up' post on the turbo installation.

I've been swamped with work travel since the first of the year, and a bit behind on all things cruiser related. On my last work trip, I left my 80 in the capable hands of Martec Engineering here locally to have Nick make sweet, slow love to the exhaust system. It's all 3" stainless, v-band clamped and beautiful. We didn't have room for the electric cutout, which is fine. I'll send it back and use that money for a resonator, as it's a bit loud on the highway. It now effortlessly runs 75mph wherever I point it, and still gets the same (terrible) mileage it always did.

I also added some @Delta VS skid plates while it was apart, which are really really nice, Dave and team overkilled the s*** out of them. On with the photos!

Johnny and crew at @Cruisers and Co put together a beautiful kit, and made the install real easy. Couple that with some JMD stainless tubing and Magnaflow cat and muffler, and the old girl rips. I cannot overstate how killer it is to drive now. I'm heavily considering the A750 swap that Johnny is working on...because I feel like it'll be the icing on the cake of this truck. While its great now with the TransGo shift kit and new solenoids, the extra gear could make it just *that* *much* *better*

After a few years of driving this thing in the slow lane, it's odd to be able to pull out, floor it, and pass people on the freeway. If you're on the fence, get off it and call @Cruisers and Co. This negates the need for an LS swap, unless you just absolutely want the exhaust note of a 70 year old pushrod engine.....

I guess I missed when you installed the BP51s. How do you like them? I'm still considering my options for going down in lift thinking about the 1.75-2" lift from Dobinsons. The website says its a 2" lift with BP51s but I kind of wonder if it ends up being more than that. Over four offroading toyotas I've actually never had OME suspension before oddly enough. But had a few Dobinson setups. I've currently got 3" Flexi and its more like 4"+ I like the droop I get but want to fit in the garage with a rack installed.

I did the BP51s a couple years ago. I really like them- but wish I’d spec'ed the longer rears for mine. I'm running Dobinsons springs and the rears could absolutely benefit from the 15" BP51s for a little more droop.

I have the Dobinsons 3.5" front, 2" rear springs. I should probably get taller rear springs too, as it's a little low after adding the drawers and everything.

Call @cruiseroutfit and they'll set you up with something appropriate!

Oh I guess I didn't realize they made the longer ones. That's good to know.

Finally got around to installing some cargo area lighting. Had it sitting on the shelf for a year or so now.
I ran the wires when I swapped the new hatch last year so it was pretty easy. 2 KC Cyclone diffused lights switched by the rear switch pros unit. The Kingpin light swaps between red and white and is on its own power/dimmer switch. Used some nice Sumitomo connectors on both.

The tubing, vbands, flex joints, muffler, and cat were roughly $1500. The labor...well...that's where things get expensive. My buddy had several days in it.

Still need to add a resonator to tone it down a bit on the highway. So that's another $150 in parts.

I need to find a buddy like @reklund5 has ....worth the cost...

I like what you did with the lights on the rear hatch.

I been eyeballing the ashtray replacement they have for the rear quarter panel. Would clean up my wiring I have going all the way to the center console right now.

Probably pick it up this summer after I recoup the costs I just spent there. 😅

Gotta sort out my rear springs before Cruise Moab and Rubithon this year. It's about1.5" lower in the rear than the front, and that's with 30mm spacers in the springs. Hoping to work with Dobinsons USA to get that sorted.

What springs are in there currently?

Dobinsons C97-147VT
Supposed to be a 2" rear heavy variable rate. Initially it was more like a 4" lift, but after adding the rear bumper, winch, drawers, etc.... I've had to add a 30mm rear spring spacer and she's still low in the rear.
