I guess somebody is-was watching this Cruiser and is ready to grab it as soon as I listed? Certainly the fastest I have ever sold any car or Cruiser!

I will keep the build thread going until the Cruiser is gone.

Cheers

Let’s keeping it going here for everyone following along on this build since 2020 or even if you just found the thread a week ago!

We are painting all around the windows, ya know the US-spec and style of black paint around this portion of the body. Sometime decades ago a soccer mom locked her keys in this Cruiser. The crappy tow truck driver or whatever sent out to rescue her did this! I have seen this on A LOT of 80-series by the way!!

So let’s fix all that and make this right!

I bought sooooo many OEM parts for this Cruiser since 2020. This for example! We are going to spray it with some 6M1 and install it.

These were NLA years before I got this Cruiser, rear door handles. The wear and tear is a sign in my opinion of raising kids, ie back door handle shows paint wear. So we are painting these too with fresh 6m1. Which by the way, we have found 6m1 is one of the easiest colors to blend and match up!

I bought this for the Cruiser in 2020 or 2021, this is my only 80-series that has this shifter in vinyl vs leather so I may as well put it in! I am going to be getting away from 80-series a little in the future besides the x2 I already have so I am happy to donate a part like this to the cause and Cruiser!

Thanks so much for continuing on with this. Easily could have left some things go now that you have a buyer. Much appreciated!

David,

Thanks so much for being one of the easiest and quickest people I have ever dealt with in the last 35yrs or so of building, buying and selling cars. You must have been following along here and or my other threads ready to go when I listed it!

You will not be disappointed! I will show here publicly how we finish this Cruiser out for final delivery. It doesn’t quite show as nice as a 1995 Cruiser in 1996! However the mostly original paint does polish up good and I dare say it runs, drives and handles better than a new 95 Cruiser in 1996! I know I was there in 1994 when one of my best friends in life bought a brand new 6m1 80 off the lot with triple lockers!

Cheers

1st row seats! Like I have stated in the build thread the Scheelmanns in it now are not going with this Cruiser. A very generous customer of ours gifted these to me after we finished x2 builds for him so they do hold some sentimental value to me. Meaning; not for sale!

However way back in the build thread you can see how I refreshed the OG seats and put Specter Off-Road Tuff Duck canvas seat covers on them. That plus Toyota lower (arse) seat foam. It’s no Scheelmanns but it is good and solid and can hold a person over until they do Scheelmanns!

The 2nd & 3rd row have been wrapped up and put aside up on a shelf for some years now. The buyer said toss the 3rd row! I get it but should we harvest this rare 95+ OEM cloth fabric on them that is mint first!?

What was prep process for the door handles to paint ? I need to paint all 4 of my mine.

That’s a nice looking fabric, I was hoping it would match my 94. Seems like they made quite a few different fabric patterns.
3 different cloth patterns. 91-92, 93-94 and 95-97. All 91-92 were cloth interiors. Leather was introduced in 93 and became the predominant upholstery

You have to grind down the staked end of this pin and then stake it again after when you reassemble.

Here is the 6m1 color match, rear door we sprayed and surrounding panels are original.

I like the window surround painted gloss vs satin black. You can’t maintain that factory satin black which eventually turns to flat black. This you can maintain and polish over time.
