When you install these seats with the new brackets I take it you get more legroom? With the new brackets work on the original seats?

Yes you get more legroom, especially vs leather power seats.

Can’t say on the Planted bases on OG seats, never tried that.

Cheers

So on the seat covers for those interested. I got them from Knightsbridge Overland out of Phoenix. They are a Land Rover vendor.

Knightsbridge Overland Land Rover Seat Covers made in the USA - https://knightsbridgeoverland.com/

When I searched the USA for Scheelmann seat covers they were all that came up. They didn’t make them for the Vario though but the owner, John said if I ship him a seat he would make a set. So I shipped him the passenger seat.

Few things here that were on me, I didn’t send him the armrest since it isn’t used in an 80 on the passenger side. I didn’t really care if I didn’t have a cover for it too since it is vinyl and easy to clean. That means no cover for the arm rest. It also means I needed to punch a couple of small holes in the cover to fit the arm rest.

Fitment is great on the covers. They are heavy duty canvas with what appears to be a pvc coating on the backside. Water proof I would say. They may look a little wrinkly in the pics but I slapped them on fast during lunch not taking tons of time to make them fit perfectly. They should settle out by sitting in them as well. My old seats I had Specter canvas covers on and they were the same material and settled down as far as wrinkles by using them. Color is not a perfect grey match, slightly green/grey but that doesn’t bother me at all.

I am pretty friggin’ happy with the seat covers and also the Scheelmanns. I think John and Knightsbridge Overland will start producing these. I am waiting on the passenger seat still so will send him and email and ask after it shows up.

Cheers

Just did a pretty gnarly 12hr 500 mile drive today.

Snow storm blew through all of central and eastern Oregon last night and was still blowing through today. Roads were treacherous and I took many back roads including breaking trail up around Crater Lake.

There is a 40-series in this pic, saw them 40 miles or so north of Klamath Falls.

Sitting at Wild River Brewing in Grants Pass having a beer and pizza. Some adventures and fun tomorrow!

Oh ya the Cruiser absolutely slayed 500 miles of ice and snow, the Scheelmanns kept my arse happy as well. Got killer mpg’s too. This is actually the first REAL road trip in the Cruiser since I put it back on the road two years and 10,000 miles ago. It’s rad! 🤩

Cheers

The little guy discovered snow for the first time today. 🥰

He had a rough time of it day one and two. Having never been in a car he got motion sickness a lot and threw up a lot as well. Today though we did 350 miles with four stops. No more barfing in the Cruiser, he seems to like the truck as well. I want him to bond with the Cruiser as well as with me.

Picked “Rascal” up in Grants Pass Saturday morning. Then headed off to meet an old friend in Drain. We caravanned over to the coast, made a few quick stops where I grew up. We were going to go out and camp on the beach but it was gnarly weather. Heavy rain and wind plus cold. We opted for dinner in old town Florence and a camp ground. First night the little guy slept with me in the Cruiser and did great! Went and hung out with friends I grew up with in Eugene on Sunday and came home today.

This is my second Shiba, my first lived to be 18yrs old.

Wow, where is that first shot with the trees, if you can say? Lived in Grants Pass and Rogue River, don't remember anything like that. Looks like Rascal's settling in just fine. My last two furballs made it to 17, and I thought that was impressive...

That is going over the pass from Eugene to Bend.

Cheers

Got a few projects out for paint/interior so may be able to work on my junk over the holidays. 😋

Ian, I have been researching the gray outer molding that you have on your cruiser. I think I have all of the numbers except the rear quarter panel. Can you share the outside rear quarter panel molding part number with me/us? I have found four different part numbers for both the left and right sides, but I am not sure which part is the one that accounts for the light fixture. Thanks.

Thanks much, Dan! Sucks that they're discontinued, but I'll keep searching!

LH: 75652-60080
RH: 75651-60080

These are for non rear quarter running light. To fit them you will need to carve/cut out the running light holes.

Just got back from an overnight winter camping trip. Just the puppy and me, spamming pics now! 🤗
