Nothing new guys... we're still waiting on Howell! It is been 3 weeks! Anyhow, we don't want to take it apart until we have everything ready for the swap. We are almost there.
I appreciate everyone's opinion and knowledge... we're working on figuring things out with the wiring. I was under the impression that I would receive everything needed for the conversion. I will call them today to verify.

this is awesome and cannot wait to follow your progress thru to completion!! i'm looking to do this to my 97... would be nice to have the extra power.

I talked to Howell yesterday and they were getting ready to start working on my harness.... so I cancel the order. I did contact Marks4wd and I will be ordering from them. This is the harness:

http://www.marks4wd.com/wiring-harnesses/ls1-ls2-v8/ls2e38efih.html

It is on Australian dollars so it is slightly cheaper (1 to 0.91 US Dollars).

Now we're going to use the stock computer and work things around.

Rock, please share some knowledge with us on this one.

THANK YOU!

No experience with Marks harness sorry....

i am not clear if the marks harness is truly plug and play. they mention there's a 'D' connector that has some of the outputs needed, but nothing to make the connection into the toyota harness.

you had better get your tech who is doing the swap to source and EWD. you get download it from the Toyota TIS web site with a 24hr pass.

From my understanding there is no plug and play harness. Again just make sure your builder examines the ewd for the needed wire splicing. Let me know if you have any other questions! :)

I ordered my harness last night and clarified some questions with Nicholas from Marks4wd. He told me that it is a complete plug and play.

We should be receiving the harness by next Thursday or Friday.

Howell was taking forever and did not have a true plug and play set up for anything that goes into the firewall. Their price was close to $1300 with the ECU and smog O2 sensors. It was a stand alone harness as Rockrod mentioned before.

The Marks4wd harness is about $1400 with shipping. They have another kit that includes the O2 sensors, the ECU, the harness, and the gas pedal for around $3k... a little to much for that one...

I will post some pictures as soon as we start the built next week :)

Thanks for all the info Rockjock!

Well, that's good to know -for $1400, you get a true PnP harness that you simply plug into the 80 harness. So, you have to source the appropriate PCM or did you grab one with the engine/trans combo?

1400 is a chunk of cash but I guess that eliminates the need for the EWD and should make your swap be even faster. Please post photos of this harness. Couldn't you have gone through Advance adapters to get the harness?

Everything is supposed to work.

I did get the computer, pedal, harness, O2 sensors, gas pedal, and ac components when I purchased the engine/transmission combo

Yes, but Advance Adapters buy their harnesses from Marks4wd.... so add their commission to that...

Standing by - you should have the harness in anytime!!!! This would make it so much easier for the swap not having to deal with the wiring swap.

Well guys... my parts arrived this morning :)
I've been very busy at work and my mechanic has been overwhelmed with work, but we are finally ready to beguin next week...

I took some pictures, but somehow they were not save... so I'll get some new ones in...
