Why?

Seems like a really expensive way to replace hoses. Why not just buy heater hose from the local auto parts store?

Did you check toyodiy.com?

I think that's what I used when I replaced them all on my 91 several years ago. However, some weren't available from Toyota anymore, so I used some Gates green stripe for the heater hoses on the fire wall.

I didn't use OEM clamps though. Like an idiot, I tossed most of the cotter pin style clamps when I took them off.

Using heater hose for heater hose wouldn't be jerry rigging... jerry rigging would be using garden hose for heater hose. But alas, I'm on a landcruiser forum. I'll go back to the mini section.

It's not the hose material necessarily, but the PO overtightened every clamp so it's cutting into the material, used straight hoses where it should have been a pre bent section(so there's a kink restricting flow) etc. If there's no performance gain, my preference

It's not the hose material I'm terribly concerned with, I'm just biased in my hate of screw hose clamps(usually over tightened cutting into the hose). Blame that on years of me working in a transmission shop and having to deal with tranny cooler line repairs almost daily. The only leaks are on the heater hoses on the firewall, I just figured while I'm at it replace em all. I tracked down all the bendy OEM hoses, and now I just need to track down some green stripe or equivalent for the short straight pieces. All in all, cheap project thatl'll give me piece of mind.

The interior's about done, looking sharp:

Sorry for the interior pics, thought you were someone else. I'm learning how to use this forum, please forgive the multiple replies.

Your interior looks great! Way better than my 91. Nice to see you don't have the rip between the cloth and the vinyl on the driver's seat.

Thanks! It did have tears when I got it, so it now has a new driver's seat bottom cushion & skin from SOR that I had an upholstery shop install, new used driver's seat back, and new used passenger seat. I also found a good used front center console that I repainted the black on, looks almost new. A few small vinyl tears on the seats, and the upper vinyl on the front doors is all that's left for the interior. Before:

wow, great work!

CJ from McGeorge Toyota is now an expert on 3FE FJ80 heater hoses after having to deal with me, great prices too. I tracked down 5/8" NAPA gold line (equivalent to Gates Green Stripe) at a local store for the straight heater hose bits(#2 & #3 in my pics), can't find 'em OEM. #4 is likely going to be whatever I can find that will fit, green stripe or gold line don't exist in that size (1/2" or 9/16") I'm still not 100% that all my part numbers are correct, but it's a strong educated guess at this point, crossing my fingers until the packages arrives!

Make sure you double check the heater hoses going to the rear heater. The metal lines and rubber hoses are all one part number from Toyota, and aren't available separately. I used the Gates green stripe to replace the rubber sections. Super easy and I've had no leaks at all. I think you would have to pull the transmission out to get the metal lines out.

That section is one of my educated guesses, I ordered the assembly which is the T and the two rubber hoses, might have metal lines too, but not the third line coming out of the bottom of the T, waiting to get the assembly before I track down the third hose(if it's not included). This: 87209-60160 Hub Sub Assy, Water. The correct part numbers were discontinued, we think this is the right one(may have found this part number from a FJ62)

the metal lines coming out of the bottom of the T is 87209-60140 for section B and 87209-60120 for section C. If I remember correctly, the FJ62 comparable part doesn't fit the 80 series 3FE. However, I could be wrong.

if i could delete the rear heater i will do that instead. one less part to fail.

That's an option, and several have done it. It's easy enough to take out those tees and just put a straight line in. The metal lines on my truck appeared to still be in good shape, so I replaced the rubber.
