1989 toyota pickup.... header

Ok so my ol manifold cracked at the "Y" so i talked to a few shade tree mechanics and was told I would be better off putting a header on it. Me being the horsepower gear head female that i am, went immediately and found a header... cause i Was pullin the motor out to redo the clutch anyway..... I found a pacesetter header and could tell the gaskets were "el cheapo" but i couldnt find any place around here that even had header gaskets for it so i used them. I went back after about a month and re-tightened everything but today i got up and went to work and she started rattlin like a diesel. low and behold the el cheapo gasket had blown.

Sorry for the long story but i figured someone might get a laugh out of my sorrow......

so does anyone have a suggestion on what or where to buy a good header gasket for this truck?
I looked at summit and they had some nice copper ones but just my luck they dont carry them for my year truck.
fyi if it helps she has teardrop ports not round....

Have your VIN handy, call our resident parts guru Sam Stewart, order up an OEM gasket. Done.

wont work... they dont have an OEM header gasket just a standard manifold gasket. problem with those are they are made with a heat shield. The heat shield protrudes outwards and the header wont mate up to it because the header does not have the same curvatures as the old manifold. it has to be a flat gasket.. Thanks thou but already looked at that route.

Looking at one of my old OEM gaskets, you could probably cut the heat shield part back enough to get a header on. If you absolutely can't find a flat one, that is.

Odd. I have an LC Engineering header, and I always use an OEM gasket.

The OEM gasket works with my Thorley header. Other good options are Remflex and Byson. I've had Byson for years with no issues.

Same reason I installed a Downey header years ago. I used various header gaskets for years that all leaked until I finally installed a factory exhaust manifold gasket. The factory gasket has held up fantastic and the heat shield protects the plug wires.
