Here’s the correct factory footman loop part number. They would need to be spot welded. I think my solution here is an acceptable compromise.

Great job!!!!! It came out really nice. Not usually a soft top fan but this one looks like a ton of fun.

I also want to thank “bottombracket” for saving me a lot of headaches on purchasing a new windowframe. I was under the impression that all the FRP tops used the ST window frames so I was about to order 56301-90k18 but this thread and the OP saved me from that mistake!!! Much Appreciated!!!

I timed myself on how long it takes to roll up and secure both rear windows. 52:37 seconds after one IPA.

I’ll tell you in a couple of hours.

And I’m safely at home in my driveway, of course.

So, long shot but here goes. I'm going to order some of these to help hold the rear down when I'm just running a safari top. The problem is getting the other side thats attached to the top. Any chance @bottombracket you could give me a rough measurement on the sizes/specs of that fastener?

I've found similar products and may be able to make something work since it appears to be hidden under a soft-top flap on OEM tops.

Are these grommets available OEM separately, or do you have to buy a top to get them lol?

Here are some pictures of the aftermarket ones, they have quite a few options, but they are close to the same idea. It appears there I a "liner"

They have the screw type, or bolt but none in metric. If I can get the right size in the OEM so they can bolt in, maybe they have a close enough size in the socket to fit.

Let me make some measurements, I might not be able to get out to the ranch until tomorrow. That grommet looks promising.

This thread has been a great resource for me to get the parts for my top swap.

Thank you very much for documenting the process and part numbers. I really appreciate it!

It's been almost a year since you did the swap. How do you like it so far and how easy is it to go back and forth between hard and softop?

@Lo2aY I love it. It’s loud, waterproof, flappy, and also loud. I drove it exclusively for the better part of last year until my 80 arrives from Tenerife.

I made a few long highway trips, wheeled a little, and made it into Toyota Trails.

I have no idea how long it takes to put the FRP top on, because I’ve never gone back yet.

@Lo2aY they are factory half doors, still FRP top, I have the correct FST soft top frames and weatherstripping but have to switch the glass over.
