1979 Distributor help

Been sitting since yesterday with penetrating oil. the Cam will not come off of the shaft. I have done everything i can think of to get it off. I may just be SOL on this one. Still open to suggestions. Thanks

Given the fact that you have a "holy grail" JimC rebuilt carb ready to install...I would recommend sending your distributor out for a proper rebuild by 4Cruisers. You'll be surprised how not expensive it is. 4Cruisers will send you back what looks like a brand new from Toyota 79 distributor, with a new single stage vacuum advance diaphragm. It will be flawless. This short era of distributor (fully electronic - medium cap) are really really good and don't always get the glowing accolades that the FJ60 big cap distributors do. They were only on these rigs from 78-80 so there's a lot fewer of them around. It will be a drop-in unit requiring no fiddling other than setting the timing on the bb. Keep your original coil and ignitor and associated wiring.
