David,

I remember a couple months ago we were trying to get you set up with the right fitting. We traded a couple fittings back and forth with no luck. I just came upon this one. Since I have it I need to poke around the Toyota's at the recycler and see if there are some suitable subs.

But this one is yours! How bout $10 and I will expedite ship it to you. I have your current address but I will need to send you my paypal address.

$225 shipped to your door.

Good question, It looks to have the same steering configuration as a FJ40. Maybe someone can chime in.

I completed a JTO power steering kit. What an experience. JTO sent out the wrong bracket which I caught after mounting it. They were good enough to send me out a new one right away. No charge or return needed. Well it took a long time to remove the old manual gear box mount. Then when bolting new bracket in place, it was almost impossible to get wrench or socket inside frame to hold nut. I wanted clean appearance so I mounted nuts, lock washers in frame. What a challenge! Used tape to hold everything together and then taped to my finger to reach inside the frame. Then you have to mount your gear box and drill holes. Be sure to get this lined up perfectly with your steering shaft. Replace your rotten rag joint while you're in there. This is not a 4 hour job! The only way it's 4 hours is if you have every single part custom made and perfectly fitted beforehand. The power steering pump mount took some modification to fit and then realized that it took quite a few threads away from the head bolts due to bracket thickness. I had to buy new ones to be safe. Bought from SOR, very expensive, but they gave me a break since I bought their smog/air pump eliminator. JTO doesn't tell you this. You need this eliminator which is an idler arm/pulley to provide tension on your power steering pump belt. You may need to shorten bracket sleeve to fit on engine mount. You will also need arm bracket to hold idler arm in place. Then there's all the essential bolts which are not included. There are no good directions so you are on your own to figure things out. You will also need a pulley installer to mount on PS pump. Make sure you use correct hoses and fittings or it will leak. I used Dextron ATF for fluid. It took me a good couple days to do everything right. I also added an oil cooler due to the close proximity of the pump to the headers and a thermal blanket around the headers. That helps out a lot! Once your done you will then need to figure out what belt to use. I got away with a cheap Duralast 15499 (10A1245). Make sure you bleed your system so you don't destroy your pump. I got a rebuilt gear box on line for $350, but it's a 3.25 turn box. Some people like the 4.5, but I don't have any problems since I don't 4 wheel or climb rocks. I learned a lot on this one

Forgot to mention I modified the original steering gear box heat shield to fit the new mini truck PS gear box.

Can you let me know if the box can be used as is and what else I would need to purchase to get this to work on a 74FJ?
Thanks for your help.

Yes I do. Operates smoothly. $275 shipped and insured in the CONUS. Don't know about shipping to Costa Rica.
