I am in the process of restoring my 1977 FJ40 body and the question came up about using it on my 1981 BJ42 build. This got me to thinking which in my case is very dangerous... How much work would it be to retrofit my older body onto my newer frame? Keep in mind that I will be using a rear mounted fuel tank and discarding the under body tank on my BJ42

So the real question is in regards to the body/chassis mounting points. How difficult would it be to mount the 1977 body to the 1981 Frame?

The rear body mounts (under the rear doors) are very different. Significant enough that it's a pain in the butt..

But anything is possible with enough time and energy.
