Well since any pictures you take are automatically copyrighted you could demand he take them down. Technically illegal. Sounds like a douche.

This kind of thing really makes me mad. Wish there was something that could be done about it.

What you could do is copy your original ad in the same locations as his with a comment that yours isn't really for sale. Double ads with the same pictures would raise some red flags to potential buyers.

I know in the ad you mentioned the only spot that was repaired was the drivers side floor board.
What was done to it?
I guess the body has no bondo?
Do you know why it was repainted?
Do you know if anything will need to be done in the near future?

My wife spotted this yesterday in Richmond, VA. I went by and looked at it after work. It looks ok, not the best paint, but not bad, bubbles showing on the rear quarters. Frame looks solid. Original color was mustard. Overall a nice truck. He is asking $13,800 locally. I did not talk to owner. It appears he drives an FJ Cruiser so maybe he thought this would ride and drive the same?!?!?!

Either way it is good to see another 40 in Richmond. Good luck with the sale.

Matzell, take a look at the last couple dozen posts. It was sold and is now being flipped.

While I think using the same pics is bush league, I don't see what everyone has an issue with. The guy sold his rig, if the new owner wants to sell it or crush it, its his choice. People act like these cars are family. Ask yourself this, would you sell a family member that you loved?

Reason I have an issue with flippers is that they tend to drive prices up just like in the housing market. Once you see higher prices often, you begin to think its the norm and then other flippers join in on the action and it gets worse and worse

Since this isn't an ongoing sale thread, I will chime in on this. You're right, there is nothing legally wrong with what he is doing. He has the title, it is his truck. Scrap it, run it into the ocean or flip it, it's his "right". I have two problems with this particular flipper. (1) He is passing off someone else's intellectual property and images as his own. This is disgusting. (2) it seems that he misled the seller, implying that he would keep it around. If you're a flipper, fine enough. Everybody is entitled to make legally money their own way. But be big enough to admit that you're a flipper. You'll add little to no value to the vehicle before selling it to someone for a profit.

My guess--and this is speculation--is that most sellers would be willing to take a lower offer from someone who will take care of and love their vehicle, particularly our pieces of junk, than a flipper. If I know something is going to get flipped, I add a premium to the lowest price I would usually take from someone who will take care of it.

I have heard a few accusations tossed around, but I don't know what is the truth: Would you consider yourself a flipper?

Agreed, if I believe someone is genuine I will always give them a better deal if I'm selling something. So, I am a terrible sales person but in return I have been given reduced rates as well. So, for me, your "speculation" is entirely accurate.

All of the above X10

Your wife is spotting rigs for you! Nice work!

Im no "flipper"...im a licensed dealer who complies with all laws and regulations. What you guys are forgetting is that if this buyer/flipper sells this 40 without titling and paying taxes on it (assuming he is not a dealer) he is breaking the law. If he never transfers ownership via the state and wrecks it or uses it as a gettaway ride in a bank heist, guess whos door the cops will knock on? Most flippers will have seller sign their part and leave the buyer portion "open", which is likely to be the case here. That being said, I bet that is the case 4-5 times out of 10 vehicles listed here on mud. Dealers catch the heat, but its the curber/flipper that you need to look out for. My 2 cents

I appreciate the honesty and thoughts, WNC.

No one said flipping cars is illegal, haha.
You have even tried to flip 14 cruisers on Mud alone.

And you always post in peoples for sale thread telling them their price is too high or low balling them. I can show you the posts if you want me to on this forum and others.
