Here is the Ebay listing.

to be honest, 43/44 series are very rare in North America so when he showed up with the truck i was caught up in the veneer.
then i took the rose colored glasses off and went to work taking a much closer look ... he was screwed over badly.

I agree with the general sentiment throughout this thread...if you were to find and help people here import old Cruisers which have not been restored, you will find Mud more welcoming. That type of business model we would support, assisting people in getting unmolested rare SA rigs stateside. Unfortunately what we have seen so far are "restored" rigs which would need to be restored. As others have said, I would rather see what I am getting, warts and all, not find out what is lurking underneath the varnish.

Central and South America has the potential to be a treasure trove of LHD Land Cruisers but it is going to take someone with both vehicle and market knowledge.
The definition of "restored" seems to vary greatly but I personally would like to see a 1" folder full of receipts and photos and have the ability to pay locally and pick up the vehicle from a U.S. based agent.

Edited...

My sentiments were accurate but my methods, forum and choice of lexicon were not appropriate. Apologies.

BreckenridgeCruiser, I don't disagree with the basic sentiment of your post. Also agree with the overall feeling of the feedback that these Cruisers should be sold in an "as is" "found condition" without the poor attempts to "restore" the Cruisers without a base of knowledge or attention to detail. What I do not agree with is this person is doing this with an intent to intentionally deceive anyone. Sadly they do not not seem to know the difference and for whatever reason despite being advised not to sell them with incorrectly spec'd parts or some other form of varnishing over other parts of these trucks. They seem compelled to do this instead of being a great source to bring in good solid Cruisers as a good foundation so that those in the know can genuinely "restore" them.. Hopefully she will see the light and we can start seeing rigs brought forward that have not been molested by folks that don't know better. That being said what is sad to see are posts like yours with name calling and other juvenile behavior that demeans the forum potentially more than her actions. Perhaps alcohol played a role in your post? Please note that there is an "edit" option available the morning after ;)

Reply (#26) crossed the line and has no place on this forum. The P.M. feature would have been more appropriate ( and only slightly more appropriate ) to express your thoughts.

also think you better look for unrestored stock cruiser

for my part ,i prefer faded paint and stock steel wheels than candy color, chrome and ugly mag wheels

this pic is from costa rica and this 45 has the look that i prefer and you have to remember , we are not like jeep guys ;)

a market right here ...
IF it is still stock
IF it has not already had the South American maintenance already done during its life time.

The lack of "bling-bling" gives it a "leg up" on many of the Cruisers from that region.
:)

i like the split rims
i like the Jed Clampet look
i would like to see under the hood and under the floor mat

Wayne, your personality is probably closer to Granny's than Jed's. :D

actually, i am more like Jed than Granny ... laid back.
i would rather have Eli-may as a wife than Granny though.

I relate more closely to Jethro ..... Brain Surgeon, Rocket Scientist, and overall genius. :D

The sad part is that the majority of the time when someone here goes to sell their cruiser the first thing they do is paint it. Then put it up for sale. But I as a woman, and not a "cruiser head" or very knowledgeable in mechanics, thinks it looks beautiful. Yes we check for bondo, bring a mechanic with us, ect, ect. But when you lack in years of mechanical LC knowledge, you can only know so much. That is our limitation. I hope to go beyond that with some help from someone who is knowledgeable in cruisers. But on the other hand, just because someone fixes something up, reupholster ripped seats, or painting, doesn't mean he is hiding something. Maybe he just wants to make it look better before he sells it. Nothing wrong with that.
