For Sale 1976 frame off restored FJ45

Hi everyone,
I'm selling a 1976 FJ45 complete frame off restored. There is a picture of it below. I also wanted mention that if anyone would like references of previous customers, I will provide them.

I agree with the general sentiment throughout this thread...if you were to find and help people here import old Cruisers which have not been restored, you will find Mud more welcoming. That type of business model we would support, assisting people in getting unmolested rare SA rigs stateside. Unfortunately what we have seen so far are "restored" rigs which would need to be restored. As others have said, I would rather see what I am getting, warts and all, not find out what is lurking underneath the varnish.

I've been learning that...but what happens here is that when someone goes to sell their cruiser, the first thing they do is paint it. So a lot of what we find for sale has just been painted.

no real difference here either, most people selling their old cars are either selling dirt cheap rust buckets or veneer vehicles with fresh paint.
fresh paint sells a vehicle to todays society much faster than ones that look like they need work.

sadly, even my eyes see pretty first. i have learned to look under the veneer to see what is hidden ... if anything.

you take a look at the vehicles that goes through Barret auctions and the like. how many original rusty vehicles even make the stage? none. most are detailed to the max before the show. look at the couple of 40 series that sold for $80K and up, fresh paint, very pretty vehicles. nobody did a compression test or a test drive. they bought from the looks.

you are sounding more honest as the thread progresses. admitting when one has made a mistake goes a long way with this crowd. honesty sells ... kinda.

I would point out one significant difference. Barrett Jackson has a LONG established reputation for high quality and they have a staff of EXPERTS.
Hopefully the seller on this thread is willing to put in the time to educate themselves and establish their own reputation.

I think the fact that I continue coming back here(despite constantly being bashed) and that I'm willing to give Crusher a free vacation to Costa Rica to educate us, shows that I am more than willing to do whatever is necessary to get educated.

I am proficient in seven or eight Spanish words, very familiar with Mexican minutes and Mexican math, especially when it comes to monetary exchange with a gringo, and would assume that Central America is similar.

It's a dangerous proposition, but willing to put myself in harms way, for the good of the TLC community.

That's the problem, you'll be mired down in other activities that will take your attention away from the task of pleasing the Toyota deities (humorous value only, on the deities) in bringing unmolested Cruisers to NA, where we can perpetuate the glory for all eternity on this very server.

You will become legendary, beyond your wildest imagination.

My purpose will be to create a buffer so that your work of long lasting implication and great magnitude can be performed, uninterrupted and without distraction, by offering myself to the local fare, unselfishly and fully.
