What does yours look like? If there’s any chance it’s original, don’t waste your time with it.
The one Mark posted will work.
I have a few in stock, so damage in transit will definitely not be an issue.😉
Yeah I'm going to pull it down and go over it. It's one of those things where if it's questionable, the OEM replacement cost isn't that bad and would be less headache. I saw it at a local dealer at a good price so I could inspect it; but didn't know you had them as well. Thanks,

When I put a 2F into my 69 40. I took the radiator down to an old school radiator repair shop and they rodded and cleaned it for about 150 or less can't remember the exact amount. Its working great.

This is why this rig is taking so long. Because I obsess over stuff I shouldn’t.
The threaded shift tower pin is a great fix, but I didn’t like how the inner boot was fitting with it. So I got a stock pin but spent a couple days coming up with a way to peen it over. What finally worked was using a little jack to brace up against the other side. I had to cut a slit in it then used an air hammer to finish it. Seems sturdy enough.

Well I’ve been out of commission for a bit due to a knee injury and helping a colleague with a machining project. I’m scheduled to get my knee fixed this week and hopefully get back to working this project. But I really wanted to get this transmission hump installed.
I ordered a roll of rubber material from Amazon and used double sided tape to temporarily hold it to the cover while I put it in place. A forstner bit worked the best to cut out the holes.
Actually getting all the holes to line up was a little bit of a game but in the end they all went in.

That explains why you weren’t in Bakersfield on Saturday.
Knee problems suck. I think I told you that I got hit by a car when I was 14 and had my left knee shattered into three pieces.😱

Yikes! Yeah it was a bummer not going to the meet up. I can walk around but trying to not over do it. Hopefully the surgery will take care of it.
When I was asking the doctor about other issues going on in my knee he was like “well you’re old”. Haha

So I'll throw a couple 2F questions out there to you folks. Just looking ahead to some items that I'm curious as to whether they work with the 2F motor. I have some parts already, and some I probably need to get.
- Fuel sending unit: I would have thought this would be matched to your tank and guage as far as resistance, but I see notes about F vs. 2F. Not sure why the motor matters when it comes to the sender assy?
- Water temperature sensor: I see different models for different years. I've got a late model 2F per the serial number, but again a stock gage cluster for '69.

I assume my starter is still good to go since I use my old bell housing, etc. Same with alternator, although I haven';t looked at what bracket I need, etc.

I haven't begun to think about distributor setup yet...

1. Fuel sender matches year of cluster.
2. water temp sender matches year of cluster.
3. starter and alternator stay the same.
4. If the distributor is OE 1969, it’s a vacuum retard, and you should consider changing it to a vacuum advance unit now. You can read up on the ‘why’ on my FAQ.

I just acquired a really sweet low-mileage vacuum advance dizzy that I had out at the swapmeet. @RodrigzCrzr saw it. Still looks like new. Can make you a sweet deal.😉

Helpful as always Mark, thanks. Yeah let’s chat soon. I’m running a few different directions right now but figured I should start laying some of this flat.

When I was looking at the head, I can’t see how the temp sensor installs- that early style looks super long and the port is shallow - is there a stand-off I’m missing maybe?

Shane, here’s a pic I posted about five years ago that shows the early sender fitting next to the sender, so you can see how little of it protrudes past the fitting when installed.

These are all available for purchase. I have brand new ones as well.

I did some small odds and ends this weekend, and in looking at the firewall and a bunch of old pictures, I can’t figure out what mounted here (lower red circle). I also see what looks to be cable routing tabs on the upper right, but I don’t recall anything running through here. Anyone know?
BTW @65swb45 going to give you a ring tomorrow!

Folded tabs hold the wire harness that runs down from the grommet, then along the drivers fender for lights, etc. The lower red circle is a "speed/emissions computer (speed relay 83260-60010)" inside the cab next to flasher relay. There is a speed detector inline with the speedo cable at the transfer case (round with 2 wires)

Thanks for that info, appreciate it. I do have that speed marker relay. I read the other thread and I have to admit I still don’t know what that thing does…😬
For the wire tabs- am I supposed to have a grommet above that? I did fill in some firewall holes and maybe I filled one that was supposed to be there. I can always put it back.

I found this thread - I get it now I think, for emissions.

Mine isn't as clean as yours, but this is what it looks like, i don't have anything in those harness tabs. I think I'm missing the emissions wiring, and also the wiring for the washer bottle pump?

Thanks! Yeah I have the speed marker relay but according to my pictures it wasn’t mounted where it was meant to be, so I don’t think I had wires there either.
