hey giys I just got a 1968 FJ40 1t motor with ~69,00 miles on it. Body is shot but frame appears to be in good condition. HAs some great parts (both axles, new brake cylinders and pads on one tire so I assume it is aon all four as the guy said he had brakes done, brand new radiator, seats are there but need reappolstered, hood is grat shape, and other odds and ends). Has no top as it was removed prior owner. This is a great parts truck and my wife wants it gone. I just go it 2 weeks ago and ws going to do engine swap but ow it looks like I will not get around to it until July. I would take in trade a 2f motor with low miles in trade or $1,000 bucks or agreed upon price. I prefer NOT to part out as the good parts would go fast and I would be left with scrap. PArts alone are over $1,000. Radiotor alone os $450, axles are $500 (Set), rims $300, motor $400, etc.,. I would throw in the 3 speed transmission and gear box if you install 2f motor (if we do trade for 2f). I will keep current 2f motor and rebuld it when time permits.

Let me know.

alright guys, as promised here are pics. I forgot to mention that the air filter, carb, intake and steering assembly with gear box was being discussed for sale before posting as I announced a couple of weeks ago that I was getting it. Total sale for all these parts were about $500. So, I have reached out to those people and said I prefer to just sell as a whiole and not piece out. They understood. With that said the price is ow $1,500 for entire thing as is. I do not have title, as I was going to use as a parts truck.

I have already received many e-mails and offers with no pics so the first one to come with $1500 and a trailer gets it. As stated before, it has no roof, no gas tank, no drive shaft or tranny. I do have a 3 speed tranny and gear box that I will sell for $500 if interested. Frame is in good shape, new radiator, front fairings are solid, body is shot, doors not in bad shape and all 3 work.

What you see is what you get. I do not know much about it as I got it literally 2 weeks ago. He, did say it ran about 2 years ago before he began stripping it down to build his 69. Motor does turn by hand. Parts are geting harder to find and I hate to get rid of it but I prefer to get a 2f motor and make the swap easier for me. I would like to get rid of body and rebuils as it has good bones.

That's not a F145 from a 68. Where is the oil filter located? Didn't see it on the intake manifold. If it's on the passenger's side probably a late F155 with the improved oiling system.

oil filter is on passenger side. also the oil sensor is on driver side near fire wall. So, could this be a 1.5 and not a 1F? If so, I may change what i do with it. Thanks

Oil filter on the passenger's side means it's a 74 F155 with the improved oiling system at least. Steel valve cover ended with the 74 F engine. Later were aluminum. Look at the serial number further back on the passenger's side. About the same height as the oil filter. Serial number will either start with a F for F engine or 2F for the 2F engine.

S/N starts with an F. I just got text from guy I biught it from and he found title which he is mailing. I will see if it is another year (he may have thought it was a 68 and it may be later).

So, based on S/N starting with F does this mean a 1.5F?

Where are you located
Weaverville NC. I reached out to the seller and he bought 4 fj40's that are different years and hads 4 titles. He parted out others and this was the only one left. The bad thing is that he has no idea which title goes with it. He is sending all 4 to me and I will see what I have.

Are you parting any of this truck out? I need some parts. PM me...your inbox is full.

Nope. I bought some seats and upholstered them and took FJ40 to local paint shop. I sand blasted rims and put new tires on and dropped in 3 sp tranny. I put it on eBay and it sold for 25k. Easiest 22k profit I ever made
