When you only have 2 hands and you have to 240 ft/lb something...

Got the crank pulley bolt torqued, water pump and alternator mount bolted in and threw a 90* fitting in the steam port last night.

Well, after doing a bunch of reading I ruled out the Aces top end kit i was considering.. The real world reviews aren't the greatest and I don't want to dick around. Supposedly the tech support isn't very good and a lot of people are saying they recieved the wrong parts with their order.

I've also read that most affordable aftermarket ls intakes don't do much if anything for performance and some flow even worse than the stock truck intake... People seem to be having issues with a lot of the aftermarket throttle bodies as well.

I took all of that into consideration and ordered a loaded trailblazer ss intake that comes with a dbw throttle body, fuel rails and flex fuel injectors. It won't look as cool as some of the other options I was considering but its certainly cheaper and is said to be the best flowing cathedral port intake they made.

I also ordered an engine cover to hide the ugly lol.

My old sail rail buddy’s all ran truck intakes. Seemed to be the go to. Surprised to hear about Ace FI. Some of the YouTubers really like them. I’m sure there a kick back though.

Yeah, I read a lot of reviews over the last few days and I was disappointed that more than a few of them were negative. I didn't want to take any chances man.

I've got a loaded truck inake for sale if you know anyone lol.

Do you know they are OEM injectors or are they Chinese injectors with OEM marking...
I've got more than a few Chinese injectors sitting in a box that never fail to fail in spectacular ways ..
The ebay listing stated they are stock flexfuel units but I have already been warned by a buddy to test them before installing. He got a bad one and could have hydrolocked his motor.

Thanks for looking out!

Did a little accessory mount chop last night in preparation for the tbss intake. I have the ilder relocation bracket ordered. I'm thinking it should clear the water pump but worst comes to worst I'll return it and get a camaro unit.

Looks like there's some room... the water pump isn't higher than the steam port line and the neck is pointed away from the throttle body...

Bonus picture of biking in -16 yesterday lol. Almost time to bust out the fattie.

Where did you buy the intake cover from? I have an LQ 9 going on my 56’ GMC, and I’m not keen on the stock cover either.

Heres the ebay link. They make 2 versions, a shortie with 3 holes that fits the actual tbss truck and a longer one with 4 holes for swaps with more firewall clearance.

They seem to be on the ball, shipped out 2 days after I ordered with an email asking which version I wanted in between.

Baby steps are still steps.. lol

Got the rear cover gasket and rear main seal changed last night.

Also went and saw a dude about building me a 4l80... so I'm even poorer now.

Going around and fixing a couple little things that annoyed me last summer.

All 4 tie down rails I bolted to the bed were too high and not as useful as they should have been. I cut some longer ones for the rear and mounted them vertically instead of horizontally near the top. Just waiting fpr a second set of hands to tighten them down but they should be a hell of a lot more useful now. Maybe bolt the shorties that were out back to the front of the wooden bed next time I have it off.?.

Also changed the thick white stripe on the ashtray to a thinner one, it was bugging me lol..

While we're on the topic of annoying things...

I was always needing to use 2 hands to open up the stupid glove box door. In a truck that is often left parked with the windows down said glove box is used quite a bit to stash things and it got to be really... annoying. I didnt want to just drill a couple holes and add a handle since the door is double walled and holes would also mess up the build tag...

So.. I did some precision weldology and managed to glue a part of a stamped wrench to the little push button surround bezel thing.

Holy, crap.. 1, it actually stuck really well.. and 2, It works freaking brilliantly.. There's a 3 as well, the passenger now has something that will impale their forehead in the event of an accident too. Perfect.
