I have an appointment middle of next month to take it to Cruiser Bros. in Stockton, Ca to get that looked at. a Dakota Digital installed and all around quick overlook. Hopefully, it will be OK.
Hey Jason. Hope all is well out west. Checking some of my older watched threads. Yours has been a great one to follow and looking forward to any updates.
Well finally after getting some time off I wanted to give an update on the ‘66. I got it back from Georg @ Valley Hybrids (Cruiser Bros.) in Stockton and they really did a nice job. Repaired the freeze plug, adjusted the valves, installed the new Dakota Digital gauge and converted the 3 on the tree to the floor. Literally all that’s left is finishing my half doors and installing the weatherstripping and she’s done. After months of promising @Rock40 an update and pics, I got to it. . The last photo, got to check out how nice of work the body shop did and how straight this thing came out. Looks like mirrors glass.
What’s happening @Jdc1. Yes, he mounted it on the outside of the glove box and the 2-button setting change under the dash by the F.D pull. Turned out clean.
Hey Jason,
Great to see it all together- looks great. I'm not far behind you... just the roof to do.
Question- when you did the doors, did you find some ¾" or so plastic washers? They don't show up in my tear apart pictures, but I've got them in the parts picture. Arne in Oregon ('64 that he just sold) thought they might be part of the handle, but again, I don't see them in my pictures.
Great work. Next time I do the Seattle to LA drive, I'll try to get in touch.

@bb67tlc, those plastic washers look like the ones that go on the very underside of the front door handles. they get sandwiched between the paint on the exterior of the door and the handle.
@Rock40 is correct @bb67tlc. In fact Ross mentioned I go look at the local hardware store and I found them. I bought the Teflon washers. Hoping they’ll work fine. I just took my outer handle with me and fit them to like.

Thanks, man. I always like to see how others tackle the same projects that I am doing. Mine will mount inside the glove box as the trouble light socket is right where you mounted yours.

Brian, can you tell me where you got your Coral colored upholstery? Unfortunately I paid one of our Mud brothers $1000 bucks and sent him my covers for patterns only to be ripped off. Sucks big time. But I digress. I need a good source for the period correct color. Any help would be appreciated. Thx Mark
Hope all is well who have followed my thread. I’ve been offline for 4-5 months due to the Wildfires here in CA and my job. Today, it was pretty cool, I took the ‘66 FJ40 into the local Toyota dealership to promote the upcoming Landcruiser Rally they hold each year here in Bakersfield. Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town, but I’m hoping for a good turnout.
And I really want to say since this will be probably the last of the posts on this thread. I really appreciate everything @Rock40 did for me on this project. I’m truly thankful for Ross along with all the other people I bought parts from. Thanks again everyone.
