Very nice! Job we'll done!! New to the forum. Yours is the first build thread I have read. Thank you very much for taking the time to take all the pictures and write the comments. Bye the way, I love the color!!!

@Rock40 has been working on my OEM half doors that he is building for the restoration. I’ve attached his tutorial here for your view. He did a fantastic job on these.

Back here in California, I had all the door hinges, hood hinges powder coated the matching “gold vein” before sending them to @SMG to get bushings and pins. To match the powder coat, I also did the door interior access panels, and regulator/latches. For the window regulator @Rock40 sent me the OEM old window crank plates and I had some made to fit over the holes. Rather than covering I thought these would work good to cover the large area. All bolts are SOR yellow zinc plated. Should look great.

Well- it’s been awhile since I’ve posted so I’ll catch you up. I took it out for its first test drive after getting the brakes adjusted and dialed in and about a block from the house the left front freeze plug let go and blew open. Very disappointing yet strange. Had it towed home and cleaned up the inside of the left engine compartment and now she awaits diagnosis. @Rock40 & I have discussed and read some threads and we both hope that the plug simply wasn’t seated right, before we go down other possible unfortunate avenues. So, I appreciate comments or thoughts around a reason why a freeze plug would blow with 10 miles on the rebuild. 1/2 doors are off to the body shop as well, so finishing up and then I had the problem, so we’ll see with more to follow.....

Sure is purty! Probably better off in the garage anyway. You would just get her dirty :)

It looks like they tried to silicone the Welch plug in place, no bueno. That plug needs to be struck in the center causing it to expand and make the appropriate seal. or just replace with a standard type of freeze plug.

Yeah, @Rock40 & I suspect it wasn’t seated correctly. You can see the dimple, but I’m not sure it was hammered enough and then sealed correctly. I want to make sure the people that follow this thread know that we sent the motor out to be done, this wasn’t Ross’ work. He and I are now just trying to figure out a solve. @Dynosoar whuch standard plug are you referring to? I already had a replacement from SOR sent to me, but maybe there is a better option out there?

That plug is a dish-type. Factory plugs are typically cup-type with a flange. I'd say they used the wrong plugs.

Ummm Dan, dish plugs are OE for 8/73 and older. The ones you’re thinking of are 9/73 and newer.

@65swb45 what’s your thoughts Mark? What do you think went on here? I appreciate your comments. Do you think @Rock40 & I have a mis seated freeze plug or other issues?

Do you know anything about the rear bumper? Was it added before the original owner? I have one like it and just wanted to know more about these types.
