hey guys new to the forum and just picked up a '65 FJ. Ive been lurking around the forum for a while and have seen lots of great info and builds.

Im looking for a little info on the intake and carb setup I got, I'm not sure if this is a factory setup or not. looks to be an Offenhauser and 2 one barrel carbs. it runs pretty good.

my plan for the FJ is to keep it mostly as is, just clean it up and fix stuff as i drive it. might do a small lift.

thanks guys

Offenhauser and others make intakes like that for chevy I6s (which is what the toyota F is based on). It's to help alleviate cylinders 1 and 6 on the ends from running lean due to the long intake path. If it's already tuned and running well I'd say keep it, it's a cool old speed part from one of the first manufacturers of them. The only benefit to the factory piece is one carb is easier to tune than two.

The 40 looks good, my favorite factory color!

What is this thing for?

My 45 came with a hand operated squeegee in approximately that position. Unfortunately, it was already removed when I got the truck. All I got were the holes!

I have a pic of a clean pair of SD-40s on top of one of those manifolds.........somewhere!

Dig the dual carb set up man.
I have never seen that before

What kinda milage are you getting?
Hows the power?

thanks man, i like the look of it to

i just got it last week and as soon as i got it home the clutch slave cylinder went out, so i'm already waiting for parts. i only got to take it for a few laps around the block

its got 108K miles on it, but seems to move well, i will have to get use to the 3 on the tree!

i dig the color to, i had it matched for the floor. the carbs might need alittle adjustment, but it fires up and after its warm it runs good.

vacuum pump i think

does it also have brake line going to it?

looks alil like an old leyland external brake power booster

also to adjust both carbs correctly....you will need a Carburetor Syncrometer....used for Synchronization of Dual Carb setups
