i think i am going to need a 3rd row for kids eventualy so i figured what better that fj-80.. got these from kurt at cruiser outfitters and another set of grey ones from ige in colorado A.K.A (nuclearmelon) thank you both.

next thing to come will be the front spring getting rehung for a shackle reverse and spring over with 60 axles on factory springs. the front hangers are going to utilize greaseable 60series hanger bolts hopefully. i am going to try to make them in the machine shop at school this semester. if they work well i might be able to have them made up for others let me know if anyone is interested.

water jet, sound like a big squirt gun..

being in school for mechanical engineering has it advantages... i get full access to a machine shop and a water jet to make things for school... but they can't tell the difference between cruiser parts and what ever else i am making! here are a few pics of the shakle reverse hangers that i drew up in solidworks and the water jeted them out of .25 steel so i could use a factory greasable spring bolt. if there is any interest i might start making these if any one wants some. they line up sweet and they are also tapped for the keeper bolts.

p.s. these ones are in 3 peices but i think i might try to have some done in one peice and then bent. we'll see next semester probibly.

I'd take a set, made to take 60 series spring pin. Let me know if you decide to make some. Thanks.

got the front sping hung, everything is just tacked right now and i am checking for squareness and geometery.. here's some pics. should have it all welded up and the axles under it with in a week.

Hows the progress on this one?

At least give us some teaser shots Mike :D

Hope you and your wife have a great Turkeyday, give me a call when things slow down at school for you and we'll grab lunch and catch up!

Mike,

Thanks for the heads-up on your thread. I love your shackle reversal/60 series design. I am particularly impressed with the shackle design, and I kick myself for not having thought of that myself. Are you worried about the frame horns tweaking from the fulcrum of the hangers being outboard? I wonder if it would be worth gusseting them? I don't know, mind you, I'm just asking.

Can you make a similar setup for an 81 and newer spring perch/shackle? I would be really interested in that.

I'm looking forward to your progress.

Cheers,

Josh

josh, i just finished modeling what you are looking for. as for th torque that you are talking about i agree with the gusset idea but i want to make it usable with the factory bumper horns. i am working up a 3d model that will help analyze the positioning. also i most likely will be partnering up with a shop for production of a kit using these so stay tuned it should happen in the next few months.
