Carbs......
Large glass window on generator equipped trucks, small window on later with alternators.?????

What medium did you use on the horn button?
Came out nice
Butch

I just need to know what Carb is original on my rig, so that I can acquire it!!!!! (have one?)

WD-40 and a terry cloth. SOS pad on the outer rim (fine steel wool).

...and thanks!

See ya,

Dallas

I can't remember if the exploded view for oil filter change is in chassis and body or engine manual. This manual doesn't really get all that detailed for the filter parts. but it's ok.

My guess is you would probably have a large sight glass sd-40 on that vintage 45

here is more info on the filter. I've seen a couple where there are parts missing inside

Hey Peter, if you can find a new one let me know...I could use a cleaner one also :frown:

Dallas-

Your turn signals look like white lenses. I'm trying to figure out if that was how they came or if they are faded out orange?

Mine look white too and don't have any old orange behind the seals after taking them off. Are yours white for sure?

My bib lights are the same.

Thanks,

Dom

early cruisers had clear turn signals and bib winkers also, not sure what year they changed but it was maybe 67' ?? not sure when the change over occured but you can't get clear from toyota anymore.

Does anyone know of any Toyota emblems of anykind that were used (even stickers) on the rear of the truck anywhere?

Dallas-

As you know I'm quite the newb here as far as 45's go, so take what I have with a grain of salt. The 65 SWB I have has this old Toyota sticker on the rear sill below the license plate.

Not sure on originality.

The turn signals were amber and just faded out. All the old lit you can tell they were amber. The bib lamps were clear. Repro lenses can be had from sor or steve.

That Toyota logo is OEM. maybe you can trace it out and give it to shane so he can reproduce them.

Been wondering if it was a sticker, or if it had raised letters more like an emblem. I was just talking with someone local to see if I can get one or two made here...would be great if Shane made them.

Where they white on black, or chrome??? Hard to tell as I've never held one. I was going with white on black.

Wes I'll post up here, or I'll PM you as soon as I have it!

Dallas, i finally got over here to check out the rig, that thing is sweet.. let me know next time your out working on it!

Glad your Bro still has the Scout! and who's D-90/Jeep thing is that? :bang:, ive seen it before down at Rock Ware..

Dom,

I am headed out for a week in Idaho visiting family for the Thanksgiving, but when i get back I will take a shot of the rear shackles. I am pretty sure they are the same as a 40, the "L" style.

UPDATE:

I am currently adapting the power brake system from a 97 Geo Metro. The booster/master is tiny, YET is still 13/16" bore, AISIN brand, and sufficient. I did NOT cut anything on my cruiser. I made a neat little bracket like the ones you see on here. I used 1/8" plate for the flanges and a piece of 2" square tubing to make the adapter.

I'll post pics later.

Also, I am going through all of the electrical. There is pieces of speaker wire used for botch jobs all over the cruiser, no fuseable link, poor splices, aftermarket stuff, you name it.

So, my buddy gave me a print off of the 63 wiring diagram. I have put my VIN on it, and am noting all of the changes and fixes made. All fixes are being made with original (but good) wiring from recyclable harnesses.

I am also converting the cruiser to use an Alternator. The generator was not reasonable to rebuild, however I am hanging onto it and will not sell. The alternator changes are also noted on my diagram. Last, it is being mounted with all original Toyota equipment. (smog pump bracket, late model tension arm, etc.).

Brakes, electrical, ? ? ? Who knows. I am just trying to get both of these systems 100% before moving on.

Happy Thanksgiving - Later,

Dallas
