WOW! That motor is riding low...
I’ll just ask, if the ride height is so low why not run the motor a tad higher? Trans tunnel issues?


Center line of crank to bottom of pan is 8" with this combo and will be about an inch off the ground when parked, ride height will be up three inches from there so call it thirteen inches engine/ trans centerline when driving give or take. This pickup has thirty inch tall rear tires so fifteen inch centerline on the rear end or about a two inch offset, not uncommon but it's going in the opposite direction from what we are used to with our 4X4's.
The 53 Belair is similar math and the drive shaft runs up-hill when driving at ride height.
 
Shop dog and I got a little more done today, parts are coming for the two piece drive shaft and I'll make another cross member or two next week.

Why not go through frame and box it and sleeve 🤔🧐😘. Just a thought🤔🧐
Way more work and it would interfere with the lower link..
The floor of the bed gets raised above the C-notch so this was easy and will be in that empty void.
