There are still a few 33x12.50 16.5 tires out there.

Looks like BFG has dropped the all terrain TA in that size. It may be tougher to find than I thought.

That’s what I heard. It’s no where near time for me to buy new tires yet. Maybe I can find some red letter Grabbers from General?

You may end up at Coker or similar vintage source.

I took some time away from the shop build to play with the truck a little. There’s nothing like adding a little bling to rev up your engine on a project.

I love those old Rocket wheels.

@William839 I think I have seen a YouTube video on that truck. It is a very nice truck and seems to be well put together. I wish I could find more information on the 6bt installation.

Yea there’s a few old videos of it on YouTube, if interested PM me and i can give your # to my pops. He’s the one who built its 30 years ago.

I haven’t given up on this project. Life just keeps getting in the way. The shop is almost complete, so I’m trying to get this truck on the front burner. I have ordered a few more parts for it and moving towards frame prep. I had a 6.0 LS and 4L60 located, but the day I was supposed to pick it up, the sellers HF engine hoist failed. When the engine hit the floor the block cracked🤷🏻‍♂️ So the search continues.

I bought a parts lot from marketplace about 3 weeks ago. They finally arrived today. It was a 238 lbs pallet of new and used 55’-56’ GMC parts, truck delivered to my work. He only showed two boxes in the add. There were 8 boxes in total with a number of loose parts shrink wrapped to the boxes.

I have done this before with varying results. Sometimes you get a great deal and sometimes you barely break even. This time I think I did very well. I won’t bore you guys with the details, but the crown jewel of the lot is an original 56’ clock. I have never seen one in person before today and now I own one 🤓

With the shop declared “officially completed” on 26 December, I can now get busy using the shop.

I have resumed work on the 56’. Previously I had notched the front cross member to aid in fitting the 6bt. With a change in direction for the drive train, I repaired the notch. I guess it’s a good thing I saved the piece that I removed.

Since the 56’ is no longer insured, I will use it’s body for alignment and fitment. The rusty cab has a mount that has succumbed to cancer, so I had no confidence in the accuracy of alignments I would get from using it. But before it gets scrapped, I needed the roof for patch material.

It was a busy day. A fellow cruiser head came over with his sons 2014 Silverado that needed a starter, 45 mins later the job was done. I really like my lift! Then I woke my 45 from his winter slumber and drove to the south end of town for LC club “wrench” meeting. After that I came home and finished demolition of the rusty cab.

Today I skinned the donor roof panel. At some point in time a sunroof was installed in my GMC and later it was removed. If you look closely at the black roof you can see a large flat spot. I believe they used a stick welder to install the patch. It looks awful on the inside.
