Actually these g-wagons/IFAV (Interim Fast Attack Vehicle) on the pics are part of the canadian military forces. (thats what i know)

They're pretty heavy with around 4.7tons weight, because they are armored. The engine is the 270CDI, like the name says 2.7l turbo diesel direct-injection.
EDIT:
# hard top
# air conditioning
# leather seats
# turbo diesel 153 hp engine
# 4,700 kg
# NATO level 1 armour

The canadian military forces wanted to use them in afghanistan, but the lwb g-wagon was too large for afghanian cities. In the end they used the ILTIS once again :D

IMO the Unimog is MB's best, followed by the g-wagon.
A good friend of mine owned one, W463 - the late series with all time 4wd - 3.0L diesel with around 100hp, factory diff-locks all around, new suspension and these 8.25 Michelin XZL. Looks great ...

This dumbass sold his g-wagon and bought a suzuki sj41x and a vw t3 syncro 14" 2.1l petrol.

I keep on waiting for the used 8.26R16's to start showing up at the after market dealers in Canada. I've not heard word of it yet.

In fact, are there any g-wagons in Canada yet, or are they all in the European theater?

Good grief crushers,

oh well, thanks. it really does make owning a minivan almost acceptable...

I am assuming that you mean the DND version? I don't think so. To the best of my knowledge they are still using that little VW thing and the Iltis domestically and the GM short box crew cabs with the Duramax. Apparently they are having lots of problems with the 24 volt conversion. Too much electronics to cause isues I guess...

I was doing some work at an armoury in Calgary a few months back and they had what would be an awesome offroad vehicle in their shop. It was one of those cab forward Paris/Dakar looking trucks with a flat deck. Tandem rear axles and tires about 5 feet tall. I wouldn't want to get one stuck, although it did have a couple of very beefy looking winches.

post it in Intl, ask for it to be moved after a day or two. Stone may grant some time. That way we all get a good look before chit chat swallows it up amongst the hundred of "show me your cruiser" and other dribble threads.

Or endless stupid discussions on war and GB.

Although I post in chat once and awhile, it try to not be too involved in it.

:flipoff2:

yeah that big bastard truck is called the HLVW (heavy logistics vehichle wheeled) and they dont often get stuck, in fact the recovery version gets leopard tanks unstuck... oh and the G wagen is awesome! the tires on it rock too!

ohh and what are these "jeep service" tires i keep hearing of.... where can i get them.

The factory 16" Toyota rims, has anyone had any luck ordering them recently? I checked at the local Toyota dealer and they said they were currently backordered and no stock in North America though the Vancouver warehouse did have 14 on backorder with no eta....

unfortunately other things have taken precedence over ordering a set of these.. but i did some research while exhausting all my options, and as far as i can tell... Wal mart sells steelie 16's that will fit the tacoma and other newer toyotas with 16 in rims, they even listed the landcruiser. think they were about 80 dollars a piece..

anyone know the actual dimensions of a 8.25r16? I've seen them locally on some of the electric company trucks- a firestone tire, I think. Look pretty aggressive but with a nice, smoother center

of special interest: how does an 8.25r16 compare to a 255/85 r 16? I'm torn between the 255 and the 235 right now (both /85) for my OME'd hj60 w/ 3.73's.

Any input is welcome

Is toyota sell 16X7 or 16X8 steels wheels ?
