Hey 1967 TLC! Those rims look great on your rig...
I knew i recognized your rig from somewhere! There's only so many 60's in my area and even less in the forest/olive green colour you have. You were filling up with gas at Shadow Mountain gas station and i pulled up next to your rig in my passat and waived at your :princess:.
I was on my way to work at Lake Crescent and low and behold you were staying there with your family!
I must say... i drooled over your rig for like an hour in the parking lot. Super sweet setup you got there. I bet it looks even better with the 16" steelies and matching Mt/r Kevlars. ;)
Sweet rig!!

Hey 88bj73, that was us! My wife remembers you waving and giving a thumbs up!

We went on to stay at the Lake Crescent Lodge that night. A great old school lake side resort. That whole Olympic peninsula is just beautiful.

What a difference the new rims and tires make!! I don't know why I waited so long. My old rims did not run true and were very had to balance. It made for a rough ride. The MT/R were not easy to find. One of my tires had to be shipped from Texas and the rest of the tires came from different America's Tire shops around SoCal.

Hi all I had stockton wheel make up a set of five 7x16 inch steel wheels using stock 15 inch landcruiser steel wheels that take the hub caps . they used the centers and welded to 16 "x7" drop center with a 3 3/4 "backspace.
Do you have any pictures?
Thanks.

Custom order?

.

I now have my new 16" steel wheels & tires mounted and installed!!

Feels great to have straight and true rims. No more wobbly steering wheel.

.
These wheels are exactly what I'm looking for. Did you order custom backspacing? If so what was it and what size tire are you running? it seems they only come in white so I'm guessing that since they are raw it was a custom order of some kind.
BTW, best 60 paint color I've seen....

CCRider,

I ordered the rims from Summit Racing: 16 x 7 x 5.5 x 3.5" backspace. Click on the link below. I'm running GoodYear Wrangler MTR LT285/75R16E1 tires.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/USW-70-7760-SPEC/

The rims came naked or unpainted. I had them powder coated semi-gloss black.

Im looking for this exact rim but in 15 x 7 Size, im not sure if it will fit and clear the caliper, i've tried to find anyone running this rim in this size but haven't seen them yet....i dont want to take the plunge.

15 x 7 is fine as long as the backspace is 3.5" . The proper backspace measurement is what need to look at to clear the calipers and the 5.5 bolt pattern for the lug nuts.

Finally!

Following 1967 TLC's lead, I ordered new 16's from Summit. I ordered raw steelies (PN: USW-84-7760LSPEC) w/ custom 3.5" backspacing and had them powder-coated grey. The grey is similar to what was on 80's IROC Camaros. Total cost w/ shipping was $432 to my door and $50 per wheel for the powder coating. The pics show my before (rusty chrome) and after, I couldn't be happier the way they turned out. Thanks to all who posted their info to help with my decision. :D

Kind of resurrecting my old thread... It's crunch time now to get new rims cause winter is right around the corner.
I've found a couple craigslist ads that look really promising and i was just wondering if these are the right rims.
These are a really good price and if the guy doesn't want to ship I can still drive down to portland, which would still keep the price of them under 200 including gas.
http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/pts/4173380544.html

If those fall through there are these ones... The ad has a bit more information about the rims which I like. But I don't remember Toyota ever making a 16x8 steel wheel like this. Is this just a mis-type? These would be my second choice if the first one doesn't go through.

Let me know what you guys think by looking at the info in the ads. I'm going to call the first guy tomorrow and hopefully find out more info. Hopefully i can have 16 inch rims soon!
Cheers :)

Summit/US Wheel
My post from January 2012 regarding my wheel order on 2005:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/showpost.php?p=7252440&postcount=79

Those wheels are probably over 100 a piece now and that's way out of my budget. I'm looking at all four for around 200. Believe me though, if i could get wheels like those that would fit my 60 without spacers, i'd do it in a heartbeat. But the budget thing is forcing me get the type of wheels i posted.

So last week I pulled the trigger on that first craigslist ad. 80$ for all four rims, $100 in gas down to portland and back, plus $10 for lunch. Only $190 for the rims I've been wanting since I bought my first cruiser back in 2010.
Now I'm waiting on spidertrax wheel spacers to show up and I'll have them mounted. Pictures to follow.
Also, I had heard that you can source these rims from discount tire. Well the one I went to couldn't. Showed up as out of stock. I do have to say though that the guys at my local discount tire are awesome. I've dealt with them twice now and each time they've been really helpful and saved me money. Four 235/85 Goodyear duratracs with warranty was $907 mounted and balanced, plus a got a $60 mail in rebate.
I'm a happy dude right now! :)
Little teaser picture for now. Hopefully the pic works from my iPhone.

Is there any way to run the 255/85r16 without the spacers? What BS on a 16" wheel would I need to avoid the spacers?
